Mylan fentanyl patches 12 mcg

Hello everyone,

I had hip replacement surgery 6 weeks ago, I currently only take 1 percocet tablet 512 every other day or so when I feel crappy. My question is this, I have acquired only 1 Mylan fentanyl 12 mcg patch and I'd like to know if it is safe enough to apply it for a one time use only? Please, if anyone has well, some kind of valid - educated answer I would certainly appreciate it.

Hi Ezab9,

No, I would not use that patch one time. You obviously have no idea what you are playing with there or considering playing with. If your pain is controlled with the Percocet as you say, then stick with that. I can only assume you acquired this patch illegally as they are not sold in lots of one. By having this drug in your possession illegally is not the smartest thing to do.

If I sound harsh, I am sorry, but facts are facts. The people on this forum are people with a serious health condition called chronic pain. We have to nearly go to hell and back to get drs to take us seriously about our pain and to get them to treat appropriately with medication.

People that obtain medications illegally, make it very difficult for people like us. So, yes, it angers me extremely when someone posts as you have. If you think slapping that patch is going to get you high, low, or anything like that you are dead wrong. But, if you slap that patch on you run the risk of over dosing, are you ready for that. Then you can explain to them how you obtained that patch as they are pumping your stomach and then face the authorities to boot.

I'm not sure what you mean by "acquired" but if you have acquired said patch from your doctor, you need to ask him/her this question. If you somehow got a patch from some other source, I would not suggest using it. Fentanyl is a dangerous medication, especially when not medically supervised; it can and has resulted in serious respiratory problems up to and including death -- especially in individuals who have not been taking other narcotic medications for a long time. If you bought the patch from a pharmacy all of those warnings would have been included in the extensive literature given to all patients & most likely you would have received a stern lecture from the pharmacist about how dangerous (not to mention addicting) the medication is.

Please contact your surgeon if you feel your pain is not being adequately managed. A doctor needs to be carefully monitoring fentanyl use since respiratory failure & ensuing death are a real possibility. On top of that, if you got the dose illegally, you could be facing the police b/c it is a controlled substance & if anything happens to you, the hospital can call the police to report you for substance abuse.

Please take care of yourself. I want to encourage you to get rid of any illegal patches you might have. Since throwing it out whole poses a serious risk to children, I would respectfully ask that you do destroy it & not just throw out an unopened packet. You can destroy the patch by folding it in half sticky sides together & then throwing it in the trash.

Well I absoutly agree that you can NOT "aquire" just ONE patch that I'm aware of, but this just reminds me that earlier yesterday I was looking up information on this new pain killer thats about to come out and I was googling it to see when it was coming out and it brought me to this forum that I've never heard of before and it was a forum dedicated to people who abuse pain killers, I was in so much shock. But the reason why I kept reading was cause they had a part dedicated to the suboxones I take, and I thought "yay, a forum with people who took the same type of med I take", but I couldnt of been more wrong, all they talked about was how to abuse them, and like 95% of the people there were giving advise about how to cheat doctors into aquiring pain meds just for fun, I was so appalled, and their had to be as many members their as there was here, I just wanted to to yell and scold them, but of course they wernt taking any new members and I'm sure I would of been banned very fast lol. I just dont understand some people, it's people like them that make life so hard for us who are in real pain to receive help cause they abuse the system so much, and to think that a bunch of them gather online and laugh about it, makes me wanna pull my hair out. well I better stop venting about it before I start saying things that might get me banned from here lol. I would be depressed if that happened, coming here is the only part of my day I look forward to.
