Oh, it's just me starting another one of these threads in the wee hours. Why am I wide awake? This is so frustrating. I want my nights and days to be more normalized. Well, mostly I want that. The night owl in me says, oh, might as well sleep away the morning hours instead. rolleyes

I just need a zap of energy and clarity to do all the paperwork facing me. Doctors appointments and tests. And now I need to get 2 new tires. I needed one, but yesterday another one blew out unexpectedly. So I'm back using my little doughnut spare again. Thank goodness for AAA. I went to the library tonight to get consumer reports ratings on tires and now need to start pricing them. Of course, this is just what I needed to stop everything else to do. shakehead

I did go to the Humane Society yesterday and played with all the cats. Gave them all treats, and my two "boys" are now in the "cat lounge" with several others, so I went in and sat down and it was a real treat fest! Except one of my guys of course, hid in the corner. I think I just want to go back there and stay with the cats and forget about all my problems. My way of putting my head in the sand. yeah

Ok, enough rambling. Anyone else up tonight? redface

Hi Palady and Tony, I'm not usually on line at this time, not because its 2.00am but it's 6pm for me in Aus and with 3 kids I'm usually cooking dinner or at a pick up or drop off location!!! Luckily its school hols and my 3 are watching High School Musical 3, so I've snuck away to the computer and ordered pizza for dinner. The only bad thing is my server is oh sooo slooow, there's probably a zillion teenagers out there on line. Comforting to know there are insomniacs out there though. I sometimes sleep till 1am sometimes 4ish if I'm lucky, then its up and reading or watching some mindless rubbish on the box. Unfortunately my computer is in the bedroom so I'd wake my hubby if I turned it on during the night. We are renting a very small house while we are building a new one, only with the economic downturn our place is on a go slow! Palady, I also have my head in the sand over paperwork, finding it really hard to get it done and much easier to push my pile of papers around than actually deal with them. There just seems to be too much to cope with at the moment. My cat unfortunately is a grouch who occassionally suffers me to stroke him!!!

Hi Pamela, yup it seems pretty quiet out there and my server is still ridiculously slow, meant to ask you how long you've been dealing with the osteoarthritis? I know you have it in your neck (obviously) and radiating to your shoulders, lower back as well? I've had sero-neg arthritis for 2 1/2 years, maybe psoriatic but it doesn't make a difference to the treatment, just started with osteoA in my lower back about 6 months ago. Hard to know what to do, everything seems to upset it, gentle exercise sends pain from my right leg to my left, doing anything too long is just teeth gritting. Infact its often my jaw aching at work which makes me realise just how much I'm clenching it!!! Should I be doing anything specific? I'd appreciate some advice.

Shockingly enough I actually slept for 4-5 hrs last night! It was wonderful. I told my psychologist today that with the exception of yesterday, I slept about 10 hrs total all week (at night). His mouth literally dropped. Unfortunately, that's pretty normal for me. I don't think I would have been able to function at all if I hadn't taken an hour nap or so most afternoons. Even as it was, ugh, I wasn't functioning that well. I've gotten up 40 min to an hour late every day this week because I would FINALLY crash right before I had to get up. Amazingly enough I was only late one day, and it was an "acceptable" amount of lateness.

I'm sorry about your tire, Palady! What rotten luck! I'm glad you got to spend some time with the kitties though! I have my puppy on my bed right now (although he is giving me the "I want to go to bed in my crate" look, so he'll probably only be up here until I finish typing this).

Your puppy wants to go in his crate as opposed to staying on the bed with Mommy? Lots of pet owners will be writing you for training tips!

So glad you got some sleep last night! Let's hope it's even better tonight.

Haha, I know! He loves his crate. We don't make him sleep in it anymore - leave the door completely open - but he wants to sleep in it! I rather have him sleep on my bed, but he gets really hot. His body just seems to run hot. We even had to get him a special "cooling" pad for his crate, because he was an insomniac too! He sleeps so much better now. He's not up all night panting & tossing & turning anymore. He's so cute. If he gets tired at night, sometimes he'll come upstairs & "put himself in bed" in his crate. He is such a good puppy. I can't believe he's not even 6 mo old! He's had a rough time though, as he has the doggy equivalent of Crohn's disease, and can't eat regular dog food (we actually feed our dogs a raw diet - that is their "regular dog food," none of that processed stuff - they eat way better that we do!). Hopefully once we finally get this under control... We are getting there, but every time we come close to weaning him off of his diet & onto raw, he relapses. My poor little guy!

I sure hope I sleep tonight as well. I usually sleep better at home than on campus, so that's a plus. Hopefully my little guy doesn't need to go out a bunch of times tonight! I've got to be up for work at 6:15 am.

Yep, I'm up, too, but I think I missed you by about an hour! I swear I'm watching too many vampire shows and I'm turning into one. Might kinda be fun as long as you played by tne "new" rules like on Moonlight and got most of your "food" from the "bank". smhair

Scarred - We only had 1 episode of Moonlight tonight. Must have been the last one of the season. Beth kind of shuns Mick in NYC and Coraleen skipped out on her hospital bed. Is there more to come?

Skeye - I was rereading your post and thinking maybe you should curl up with your puppy in his crate if you can't sleep! smilewinkgrin

Good Morning my friends! It's 4:34am here in KS and yep I'm wide awake!! Hot flashes are really getting to me. God I hate menopause!!!!!! Too my left leg is KILLING me again! Stupid nerve pain.

PA: Of course there is more to come darlin!! I don't know when they will air the next episode I will have to look on Scifi's website.....Ok after looking at the site it looks like we are not at a standstill quite yet LOL. Looks like they are winding up with the rest of the first season until the 29th of May from what I am seeing. They should be doing the entire first season before they quit which if I am correct will be around June 1. After that its anyone's guess as to whether they will actually do a second season or not.

Anyway it was a really good episode last night. Still watching the old episodes are cool. I still find little things that I missed the first time around.

I've been awake for an hour. All I have to do is wait till 8 AM and I can
take some Methadone. Whoopeee.

I have faith that I will get enough sleep. I don't have to go to work and
my social calender is not brimming with fun things to do tomorrow.

Palady, you know me too well! When I am home, that is exactly what I do when I can't sleep, I go snuggle with my dogs! It's so lonely up at school. I miss my furry buddies, they give me so much unconditional love and understanding. How I wish I could make it possible for you to take those two kitties home & be able to care for them! I often think about you & worry about you all alone! I'm glad that you've been able to find some time to get to the humane society & play with your friends lately. I have a feeling that you are all helping each other to heal!

Hot flashes are just awful. I was having some copies at CopyMat on a hot
day.

The very attractive YOUNG girl who worked there said, "You're sweating
ma'am. Can I get you a kleenex?"

Ma'am? Ma'am! Ma'am! (I looked behind me half expecting to see my mom. And
then I went home and cried my eyes out.)

Aging is a chronic pain in itself. Of course, it's better to age than to not
age.

I'm hoping my pain medss kick in soon. Need them to! Didn't help that I took a "nap" at 10pm, then got up to watch SNL and various reruns. Oh, well.

I remember the first time someone called me Ma'am. I still wince, but when I look in the mirror I know why I get called that. And you know, it's not so much aging. CP shows on my face.

It's now 3am here in KS and once more I am up and in horrible pain. I can't help thinking that I am cursed. There is no comfortable position either...no perfect spot where I could actually get some rest from the stabbing pain. Uggg!!

Anyway.....going to grab some M&Ms and watch MASH

Decided I'm depressed on my anti-depressant!!! LOL. So sick of not sleeping. Got a headache with it now, or maybe because of my neck, upset stomach too but maybe thats from my new anti-inflammatory! Had to do mid session reviews today, felt sorry for my students, I'm in grizzly bear mode. Sore hips, sore back, sore elbows and my thumbs throb, such is life. Maybe I'll sleep tonight!

Looks like it was a busy night last night! I tried to get to sleep a tad earlier than usual because I had to function somewhat today. Really, I need to be functioning more every day with doctor appointments and paperwork and such, but it's so difficult to concentrate for long. I admire any of you who are still working.

On the way home tonight the pain in my right leg got really bad. Burning. Most of you all know the feeling. And I wasn't even doing anything! shakehead So I've been using heating pads and anything else to add to medications tonight. Soon I'll be able to take more meds and hopefully they'll knock me out for awhile.

Wonder what will be playing on insomniac theater tonight? Someone bringing popcorn? smilewinkgrin

p.s. Oh, I was bad today. I stopped at the store and guess what was on sale? The Easter M&M's! The big bags for 87 cents!!! Figure I'd better load up before I see the GI doc later this week and he tells me no chocolate. turn

Did you get enough to share? I love M&M's heck I love Chocolate period! I really love the Dark Chocolate. mmmmmmmmm!
I do know what you mean about using the heating pad, I have been using it on my neck and left arm, then I put it down on my lower back, I think I need a bigger one that will go from my head to my tail so to speak, I have problems with L4/5 and down and that gives me my leg problems, but I also have C5/6 and that give me my arm and hand problems not to mention the gagging problems, T8 causes the squeezing and kidney area spasms and the T12 kills my hips! They usually don't all act up at all the same time but the last few days been really bad, I see the my pain specialist this Thursday for my Refill, and the the Neurologist the 29 th. The arms especially the left one and the neck and the Gag reflex have been really bad the past couple of weeks! It kind of scares me because I know that the Disc is getting worse in my neck!
Anyway PALady you take care of your self, just tell your GI Doc that you just thought the M&M's were pills for your digestive tract! smilewinkgrin
