Yes, doctors' just don't pay enough attention to the serious matter of
Intractible Pain.
Someone on the board mentioned that pain is invisible. I believe any one
of us could see pain and suffering on the face and walk of another. Problem
is: None of us can prescribe.
If we has expensive Cancer, medics would pay attention.

My words feel so bitter.
I had two humanitarian doctors in my seven years of pain.
For them, I am thankful.
Not much can be done for me.
I don't believe my doctor can prescribe more Methadone. (DEA, you know)

I went to a doctor like that several years ago, about 7 years ago I was refered to her by my GI doctor cause I had alot of stomach issues (especailly chronic pancreatitas) that my insurance wouldnt pay for the GI doctor to treat cause we tried everything else that the insurance would pay for, but none of it worked, but I was in SEVERE pain, so he refered me to this "family doctor" that did pain management. this was the first pain doctor I ever went to and at the time my GI doctor was giving me percocets, well this PM doctor told me that there was this med called oxycontin that would be better then percocet. Well her husband and secretary would sit there and suck on Actiqs the whole time. Well she would prescribe massive amounts of narcotics with out really anyone asking for them, she would give me a 3 boxes of actiqs every month which I hardly used with oxys, and I would be so out of it all the time but I didnt know better, I thought if the doctor said I should take it, then I should. Well after a couple of years I guess the WHOLE town heard of her, and I started to realize what she was up to, and I tried to find a diffrent pain specailist, but nobody in my town was taking my insurance or new patients, so I had to stay but I would just pick up my oxycontin and that was it. Well I remember people pileing into the waiting room demanding their prescriptions, there was even one guy that said he used up all his oxycontin too fast and wanted a refill with a higher dose and the doctor gave it to him. I would of thought a patient that took all his pills too fast and demanded a higher prescription was grounds for removal or even the cops called, but nope. And she had a huge calander in the waiting room so everyone could write their names on it so the doctor would know who needed their refills, of course I never put my name on it, I wanted my information private. And her husband would always sexually harrass me, I remember one time I went their and all the chairs where being used in the waiting room so this guy got up and said I could have his chair, and the doctor's husband said I could come sit on his lap, I was so grossed out. Well after about 3 years of this, the doctor finally got in trouble cause alot of patients complained about what she was doing when she would cut them off (she started cutting off alot of patients cause she knew she as about to get in trouble) and of course her office was closed down. The I guess she reopened about 6 months later but that was shut down within a few months and she went to rehab cause she would take patients meds when she told them to bring in their left overs so she could switch their meds, but instead of flushing them she kept them for herself. She paid her secretary in prescriptions, and once when I ran out of meds and the doctor was out for the day, the secreatary called me at 8pm and told me to meet her at the back of the office, and I thought the doctor wrote me a prescription and she was just being nice and was gonna give it to me, but instead she handed me an envelope with pills (it was the samething I took) but I freaked out, I knew that as illegal period. Alot of people where mad and freaked out when she left cause she got several hundred people addicted to narcotics and benzodiazipines. This doctor did take private insurance but absoutly no mediccare or medicaid cause she hated it and said it was a rip off?? but when she left I found a great internal doctor that took over my care and was much better at his job. When I look back I get so angry at myself for continueing to go to her, but I was only 19 years old when I started going, and didnt know any better or knew at all how a PM doctor worked, I guess I thought that was normal, but now if I ever see a doctor like that again I will run very quickly the other way cause now I now ALOT more better

Also their was doctor 2 yers go tht ws selling prescriptions out of the back of his truck to teenagers. I just dont understand why anybody would do such a thing, they know they will be caught, and after so many years of school and college and they risk it all just like that.

I swear by my Suboxones, I couldn't ask for a better med for my chronic pain. I started it to get off of all narcotics cause my tolerence was way too high and nothing was helping my pain, it seemed like the higher the dose went up, the worse my pain got. But after starting Suboxone I realize my pain got alot more controlled, of course nothing will help it 100% but it does a great job. The main ingredient in it, Burenorphine, has been used overseas for many years for pain, it is a narcotic, so it helps with pain, but they just add the naloxone in it for people with addictions and dependence to narcotics so they cant abuse the Suboxone. right now they're doing trials on Burprenorphine in a patch form that will be used just for chronic pain, so I cant wait for those to be approved so I can try them cause I know if the pills work, then the patches should too. It works almost like any narcotic, but it does have a diffrent structure thats hard to explain. Alot of doctors are starting to prescribe it more and more for pain cause you cant abuse it or build a tolerence to it. It does have a half life of 37 hours but it only works for pain for 6-8 hours, and I love tht it works so fast cause it's absorbed under the tongue so I dont have to wait an hour or more for a pill to work, these only take about 15 minutes to take effect, which is wonderful when I'm in alot of pain. I know alot of people are turned off by it cause it's approved for addiction/dependence to narcotics, but it IS a narcotic that can be prescribed off label for pain, and some of the top best pain doctors in the country like to prescribe it more then any other pain med cause it has so many perks, but lot of poeple say it doesnt work, but for me it does. The naloxone in it doesnt take effect when taking under the tongue, it only works when injected, so it doesnt cause withdrawals if it's not abused. The only problem is that you have to be in withdrawals to start taking it or it will throw you into withdrawals (I forgot why that happens) and you cant take other narcotics with it for breakthrough cause the buprenorphine blocks it. I still get pretty drowsy and loopy from it but it's worth it cause it kills the pain. This is all I can think of right now, it's a very unique drug but in a few years or less everyone will hear more and more about burprenorphine cause it's about to come out in other forms just for pain and not for addiction/dependence.
