Tony
After I got my VPAP Adapt SV and since I also have to have Oxygen with it and have the Oxygen Concentrator, I got my DME to order the ResLink (it is a device that connects to the back of the VPAP machine that you put a ResMed Smart media card into and it records sleep data on it and I went had them order a nonin pulse-ox that connects into the ResLink, so at night when I go to bed I put on my mask and slip the rubber finger cover ( Pulse Ox)and then the ResLink records my average machine pressure, AI (Apnea Index), AHI (Apnea Hyponea Index), Respiration rate, Oxygen Saturation, Pulse, a VT and MV, and a bunch of other data, and puts it all on the Smart Media Card, every week I pull the card out, and put it in the card reader on my computer and down load the data to the computer using ResScan software, then I can look at tht data for each individual night and see minute by minute every thing that happened during my sleep, I normally don't though, but I could look at every thing right down to the second that it happened , but I normally just make a report and save it, and every once in a while I will E-mail my sleep apnea doc one of the reports ( it is a PDF file) and he can review my progress. If he wanted to, he could actually send changes to my machine, to me and load them on to the data card and then I could put the data card back into the ResLink and it would load the changes into my machine and change the settings! He has never done that though. Every morning I do check the screen on the top of the machine and see what my average data was for the night, I like to check my AI and AHI to see if I had any Apneas or Hyponeas and how many, 5 or less an hour is considered normal and is OK! Usually my machine prevents me from having any Apneas so my AI is always 0.0 I sometimes have some Hyponeas (I call them Apnea wantabees) usually they are 0.2 to 1.4 which is fine! Anyway the ResLink and Card and Card reader and Pulse Ox set up and software was a pretty hefty price and insurance doesn't pay for it, so that came out of my pocket!
Pain definitely affects sleep apnea though, nights that I have lots of pain my AHI is alway higher!
Tony I am glad they are getting you in for the sleep studies so quickly, that is Great! If I can be of any Help to you just holler!
Good Luck to You
