servere head aches

hi..im new 2 this in talking about my problem on the internet but i really need help! i have been having servere head aches for a 1yr 7mnths constantly! i have been giving so many tablets, ive had ct brain scans blood tests mri scan n also lumber punchers! n the dr still dnt no wat is wrong with me! im so scared becos i no there is something there in one particular part of my head causing me so much pain!im 20 yrs n its ruining my life at the minute! n its starting 2 get me dwn and im such a happy bubbly person usually! i cant cope any more! i really need help!please i am losing my apetite n weight when i lay dwn totally flat my heads so heavy i can hardly lift it,.im being sick wen i get up n by heads always lit n dizzy!!i hate being like this does ne1 have ne answers for me im desprite? x

Welcome to the chronic pain forum of Healing Well. I'm so sorry for all you're going through at such a young age. We aren't doctors here so can't give medical advice, but we can offer you support as you try to find some answers. There is obviously something wrong.

A couple of things I would suggest would be if you have a teaching hospital near you that specializes in headaches, to try to get a thorough evauation. Even if you have to travel some distance, it could be well worth it. Another thing that might help is seeing a pain psychologist - or any therapist who can help support you as you go through your search for answers. Depression almost always goes along with chronic pain, but with what's going on you'd really need to talk with your doctor about that. It might help some, but it's not the answer.

Do you have some support people around you who can give you a hand - family, friends? It sounds like you need someone who can help you, maybe even go to doctor's appointments with you. Don't give up; keep pushing your doctors and if they don't have an answer ask what your next step should be; what specialist might possibly be the next one for you to see.

Welcome to our family.  As PAlady said we are here to support you. There are many people that will welcome you with some good advice.  Hopefully you will stay with us.

Wow that has to suck!  I used to have migranes for no reason that would last for weeks with one week off.  Went on for almost two years.  The only thing they found out with mine were that I had contricted veins in the lower right brain. Then one day they just left.  On occasion I get one but they never last as long as they used too.

I'm sorry and my heart goes out to you with this pain.  Stick around someone might have some good advice for you.

I'm just curious, but does the headache itself NEVER stop, or is it just that you've had them for almost two years. One thing that might be helpful is keeping a journal of them and noting things like what you've eaten, and yes, your menstrual cycle, as well as activities....anything. Just to see if there might be any association. There are such things as menstrual migraines for us women; I never had them until I was close to menopause, but some women have them for much of their lives. Just wondered if that's ever been considered.

Welcome Danielle,

I am so sorry to read about your headaches. I get bad headaches sometimes too and I just want to tear my head off! For me, my percocet helps take my headaches away. So far so good.

You really need to see a headache specialist, as there are many types of headaches and just as many causes. For instance, have you been allergy tested?? The menstrual headaches mentioned is a possiblity as well. There are tension, migraine, cluster headaches and all have different starts and causes and are treated differently as well. Please look into seeing a specialist in headaches in your area, if you can.

my heart goes out to you. I have to leave now but I promise I will think about your problem and will try to come up with a suggestion or two. I just happen to know someone who has been suffering terrible migraines since 5 years following a brain surgery. I will give him a call and get back to you.

Stick around and don't hesitate to post again, even if it's just to blow off steam.

Welcome to our CP group! I am also sorry to hear your are having CP with the headaches. I do not have a history of headaches but my oldest daughter does. After a lot of tests and diagnosis she found her migranes were triggered by certain combinations of food. Chocolate and peanuts were her enemies. Just a thought but it might be worth keeping a log and adding your food intake to the headache episodes to see if there is any correlation. I hope you find the answer soon. I've only had one really severe headache - it was after back surgery and they managed to accidentally cut into my dura. Lost most of my spinal fluid. That was an atomic headache I wouldn't wish on anybody. Hope you find some ideas here. But don't give up the search. Somewhere there is an answer. Your headaches are not normal. Have you had a brain MRI? Is there a university teaching hospital near where you live? After a year and a half of that pain it may be time to elevate the search for answers to a larger, more specialized medical facility.
