increase in pain today!!

Hi friends, I am having an increase in pain today. I overslept this morning and it was really too late to take my daughter to daycare. I didn't get in bed until 3:00 this morning. They have their little routines there. And I didn't want to take her later than her normal time. Anyway, long story short, she hit me in the back today with her fist as hard as she could. She is only 4y/o. I had my back to her and was telling her something she couldn't do. I guess I used poor judgement. I should have spanked her. But it caught me way off guard and it really hurt!!! I didn't spank her b/c I would he hitting her for hitting me... I did talk to her and told her to never hit mommy again. So I was already hurting before this happened. And now it is hurting worse than before... just what I needed.

I can't remember when you see your doctor next, but I think I would give him a call. If your daughter hit you in the area of the surgery, even though she wouldn't have intended to do damage maybe she did. Plus you seem to continue to feel more pain (even before she hit you). Is it the nerve pain that's worsening, or muscle pain around the incision? The pain and tightness around the incision can take quite awhile to heal.

I just keep wondering if you're doing a whole lot more activity than you even realize, and aggravating what should be healing. I wish you had some help for awhile - someone living with you. Sounds like your mother wouldn't be the help I thought she might be; how about a friend?

PaLady, She hit me in the back right above my left buttock. It is feeling a little better now.I guess I should have called the doctor, but I really didn't even think about it.

My next appt. is not until June 26th. I do think I need to call before then, I do have some questions. I want to know exactly what I should and should not be doing now.

I hope I am not overdoing it. I don't feel like I am. I do little stuff around the house. I will fold up clothes. I Iwill clean and wipe down in the kitchen. I have done a little cooking,nothing too big or complicated. I have NOT done any floors-no vacuuming and no sweeping. I haven't been bending over. My aunt bought me one of those sticks that have a handle on it-it is used to pick stuff up off of the floor. That is a wonderful little gadget.I really don't think I am doing too much. But I will check with the doctor and make sure.

I have been hurting since the surgery. It really hasn't stopped at all. The back is better. I feel a little pain at times. The majority is and has been in my hips and buttocks. The left side does feel a little worse than the right side but not too much. I have no idea why it hurts in those places. It just hasn't gotten alot if any better. I do have lower back pain too. But it really isn't horrible-just my hips and buttocks. And I do want to know why. I do hope that pain will go away in time. Maybe and hopefully, it just hasn't healed all the way.

My 1st PT is for tomorrow morning. When I get home, I do plan on putting a call in to the doctor and getting these questions answered. I feel like the 26th is too long to wait. I do want some answers.

Anice, I am not one that has the right to tell someone else to slow down or to take it easy. I have not heard much about your husband lately so I hope things are going ok. I want to congratulate you on not losing control with your daughter. I know that with you limitations it is not easy with the kids as they don't really understand. They get frustrated just like us. Let us know how the PT goes tomorrow. I won't tell you that everything will be better after you go to PT. I can't lie either. PT can be difficult at first so I urge you to try and give yourself a break after your session. Take care of yourself.

Oh my gosh! OUCH! I hope she didn't do any serious damage! That is really scary! Hopefully you'll feel a little better tomorrow! Good luck with your PT tomorrow. Don't let them go too hard too fast!

Ok, the PT eval. is tomorrow. I would suggest writing down all your pain symptoms so you can ask a lot of questions, and make sure he/she does a thorough eval of all areas that are hurting. There is so, so much can be affecting you right now. And actually a good PT may help with that. The buttock pain (which I continue to have) may be helped with some heat and massage and stim and other things a PT uses. Most PT's will do some treatment after they evaluate, and usually first time after surgery they ease you into it - at least mine did, thankfully. If he/she doesn't do some things to help you relax a little first (like some heat packs, ultrasound, etc.) maybe you can ask for some things that would help you relax before doing any exercises.

Don't be afraid to assert yourself - and remember it may turn out to be a wonderfully soothing experience. Or at least begin to give you some answers about all that pain.

Anice I really hope the PT goes well. I've just started hydrotherapy to try to help with my hips/back/knees which all seem to be inter related. The physio was so wonderfully informative, she really explained what is going on and somehow that helps the pain just knowing why I'm getting it. Plus the exercises shes getting me to do are starting really slowly and just to my own limits. I'm sure your PT will be equally as good, I feel they are more down to earth than the specialists tend to be. Easier to communicate with and mine was very sympathetic plus being in a situation where there are other patients around you is quite comforting too, the old you're not alone feeling, I guess... best of luck, golitho

to all who cant sleep. please be careful how long u go without sleep. i went several weeks with little to no sleep and ended up bi-polar. (there were other factors too). my dr. told me to never go more than 2 nights without sleep without contacting her. i am on lots of meds. because of all my illnesses. going without sleep makes everything worse. good luck to all "unwilling night owls" and please be careful!
