checking in-really sick

Hey Everyone,

I have been MIA for several days now. My wonderful sinus infection did the usual and has gone into full blown bronchitis thanks to my COPD. It just does not take long for me to get down with it considering the shape of my lungs. Nothing like having this stuff and being sick with 102 degree temps outside.

Hopefully with my meds and breathing treatments I can get past this stuff without too much drama, The coughing is about to wear me out, my ribs and stomach are sore from coughing so much,

Susie, sorry to hear that you are not doing well. It seems that others things affect us more when we deal with CP. And I can imagine that all the caughing is not making things any better either.

Take care of yourself and I hope you have found a cool place to hide out as this runs it course.

I hope by now you are feeling better by now. A sinus infection can make you feel like you have the flu. Get better!

Hey, thanks everyone. PA, I have no clue why that post stretched out either. Crazy, huh? I wish I could say I felt better, but the fact of the matter is, I feel like crap. Once bronchitis hits me it takes me anywhere from 6-8 weeks to get over it. My lungs are too weak to fight off infections as a result of the COPD. I usually end up on 3-4 different antibiotics to get the infection down, history kind of repeats itself with me & bronchitis. If I didn't have the lung issues I could kick this mess in a week to 10 days.

My pulmonary dr wants me coughing, he says its helping clear my lungs lol. I said well, great, but its causing me alot of pain in my ribs and stomach from coughing so much. He very reluctantly called me in some cough medicine with the promise of only using it when the coughing gets hard & will not stop.

Since I am running a temp. my little pal cannot come to granny's house. I sure don't want him picking up anything from me. But, we talk on the phone and he wants to know why granny is sick. I sent Pawpaw over today to see him-he is pretty use to hanging out with us alot so its hard on him too.

Keep your fingers & toes crossed I get over this mess soon!!!!!

I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling so awful! Being sick is bad enough to begin with, but being sick with CP is just miserable! I've spent the last two and a half weeks with severe nausea & vomiting - I think it's just from the pain, but my doc is concerned about gallbladder. Of course that is different from what you have, but just wanted to say that I can relate! I hope the coughing dies down (for your sake). Violent coughing like that can really hurt, even if it is "beneficial!" Here's to a speedy recovery!

I do hope you get to feeling better! I have had bronchitis more than a few times and I know it is not fun! Take care of your self! I will keep you in my prayers!

I'm so sorry I forgot to mention anything about Jake. I'm so sorry that he's not doing well, but maybe since he's not in pain he'll still be with you for longer than you think. I gave my cat daily steriods when they found a lesion on his spine, and had him for nearly an extra year. The vet had suggested I put him down because he was bedridden but with a lot of work and love he got back on his feet in a few weeks and the steroids held him for several months.

We do so love our pets! For me, they're like children!

Thanks for the prayers gal, I will take every one I can get. I still feel like crap, because of the COPD it just takes me forever it seems like to get over bronchitis. My usual run is 6-8 weeks and 3 or more scripts of different antibiotics. If I had nice healthy lungs I could kick it in a week or so, but thats not to be. My lungs are weak and its just a mess if you want to know the truth.

And also a belated thank you for my birthday wish, I did see it back there late the other night,lol. It was another uneventful day which I am glad of. I survived another year with many more to go lol. It sounds like you had a really nice day I am so glad.

How are you feeling these days? I have had a sudden increase in lower back pain. I don't know why, unless its from all the coughing I am doing. Every place else is sore from coughing so much. My PM dr is on vacation in Africa on a big hunt, but she did tell my nurse if something happened while she is gone I can have a 10% increase in my pump. Boy, was that ever nice of her. I am just not use to having someone on the ball like she is. I am so thankful she is in my life. I am trying to hold off and ride yhis pain out and see if it will quieten down somewhat on its own.

I am off to get a shower, helps me breath better lol. Take care and let us hear from you.

Hi Susie:

I hope that with each passing day that maybe your feeling at least a little better from the bronchitis. I'm sorry that it is so long and drawn out for you. One of my worst asthma attacks of my life was while I had bronchitis. I asked my sister to come & stay with me for a couple of days as I had a toddler and my husband had a new job and could not take any time off from work.

She was not thrilled with the idea because she is a smoker and we have always had a "no-smoking" rule in our house, and she did not like having to go outside to smoke, but she reluctantly agreed. I fell asleep on the couch, and she thought that if she opened a window she could get away with having one while I was asleep, and lit up sitting right at my feet. I woke up gasping for air, and could barely get out the words that she had to get the cigarette out of the house. She angrily stomped outside and left me there barely able to breathe. I literally had to crawl upstairs on my hands and knees to wake up my husband who was sleeping in preparation for his midnight shift.

He had to rush me to the hospital where I was given several breathing treatments to get things back under control. It is one of the scariest feelings I have ever experienced. I can not even fathom what it would be like to have serious lung issues.

Thank you for asking about me. I am really having a very tough time with my physical pain, emotional pain & turmoil because of the physical pain. I'm at my wits end with my PM, and I'm about at the "end of my rope". I have neglected posting about my situation because I feel like I am just full of complaints and negativity. I have started to post several times and I just keep deleting them.
