OT Dentists & Dermatologist

Well, I went back to the dentist from hell only to find he was fired from the place, imagine that. I was there to get the other crown on the other side put on. They had an older guy there filling in and I got to talking to him about the other side being a problem and not able to hold a crown according to the other dentist. He went and got the office manager that was there over all of the clinics. Boy, did I give her an ear full. By the time I got done with her I had her sitting for nearly an hour. I left not one rock unturned either. I told her I suspected this palce to be nothing but a scam from what I could tell. The old dentist had the girl take a xray of the other crown and sure enough it is not seating correctly. As it turned out the crown he was going to put in was the wrong color, not even a close match!! So that was the second time for that crown to go back.  I was so tired that day I did not want anything further done so I left. I go in tomorrow and he will take that crown off and take a look underneath to see what he thinks. I said I felt they owed me a new crown because that one never fit right to begin with. 

I saw my 2nd dermatologist Friday and he was just as the other one said the guru of psoriasis. He says it appears I have two different types going on. He uses Humira quite frequently for his patients so we are are going to see how I do with it, since I just started back on  it. He also uses alot of Vitamin A so, he gave me 2 samples of different types to try and see if my ins will cover each because he says its really expensive. There is also a pill he wants to start me on called Soriatane but needs to see my labs that was done on checking my liver from being on Imuran. He will get those from my rheumy. This pill is a maintenance type of drug that will help prevent further breakouts and help clear it up. Thats about all for now. Oh, he did look at my legs and squeezed the bottoms of them to which I drew back. He said I do hope you are seeking medical care for your legs, you have a real issue with blood flow in them all the blood is pooling in the bottom of your legs and not able to pump back up. I said yes, got someone looking after those too. I was pleased with how the appt went although I had a hard tme getting an appt. The other dermtologist had to call him personally before he would agree to see me. Some crap about only seeing people on Medicare that are 65 and over !!! I think they call that discrimination where I come from!!

Great to hear that you are finally getting all your dental work under control. Somebody was sure looking over your shoulder - what are the chances that the original dentist from Haddes would be fired. The new, older dentist, went to bat for you. Good things do happen (eventually) to good people.

Hi Susie, I really hope the humira works for you, I'm on it for arthritis and I must say compared to so many other meds I've been on it seems to affect me the best plus have very few side effects. I'm crossing my fingers it works for you too (like Char)
As for the dentists both yourself and PAlady have found I can't believe how shoddy they are, so shocking to think they can get away with such horrendous treatment, can't you report them or something? Horrors.

There was a front page story in our Sunday paper about this dental clinic that has recently been closed down (they've allowed it to re-open, but are monitoring things). Seems it has to do with a partnership dissolving in part, and one partneris claiming the other was committing fraud by billing the insurance company for crowns made of better material than they were actually made of. You might want to see if you can get the procedure codes and get someone in the insurance comany to identify them. Would be interesting to see if that crown was made in the way and with the materials it was billed for. Hope I'm making sense!

I thought of both of us...and no, my dentist wasn't involved, but I was sure reading closely looking for his name!

I honestly think that's something similar to what happened to me. When the two specialists I got second opinions from both said I had lost a lot of bone in that tooth, I thought - no one said that before all the drilling and the new crown! But proving this is another thing, right? I no longer have any dental insurance either, which is why my angel dentist, who is due to pull my tooth on Thursday, is really my savior (although there are some things I want him to look at before he pulls that tooth...once it's gone, it's gone forever, as w know).

I will tell you I'm so glad I got second opinions and they really didn't cost that much. I think one was $50 plus $20 for a specialized X-ray (that was from the endodontist), and my "angel" didn't charge me at all! I just wish I had gone for these opinions earlier. I'll tell you one thing, I sat down and called all the specialists in the phone book to ask about what a second opinion would cost, and some of their other costs, and learned a lot just by how I was treated by the receptionist, and how rigid their policies were. Then when my goddaughter told me she had her root canal done by this endodontist (the one I went to for a second opinion) that sealed the deal on who I would see. BUT even with that, I think these guys all protect eachother. This community isn't that large, and I'm sure most of the dentists know eachother, and both the endo. and my "angel" said they would "talk with" my devil dentist, but neither of them would say that any work was done incorrectly. Since you know the legal piece of things you know they don't want to get in the middle of a fight.

I know the feeling about not wanting to go back to the person who injured you - and I do use the word "injured" because it's not just about teeth, especially for those of us who already have multiple problems.

Anyway, I'm rambling, but I would encourage you to try to get a second opinion before you go back to your guy.

I sometimes think they file these teeth down because they know eventually it means some kind of implant or bridge or whatever which is just more money. They do lousy work, collect our money, so they can do more lousy work.

Susie, good luck on your second opinion, I sure wish you and PALady had better Dentist, as this never should've happened to you!

Sure wish you could get a good lawyer to take these Dentist to the cleaners (ProBono) (SP?)
