I read in a post where you were considering a part time job.  I remember you wanting to file for SSDI and as far as I know you cannot be working when you file.  Silly that they will let you work part-time after you are approved but not when you file.  Maybe I have my information wrong.  Let me know OK.

It's a long story. I guess it's my still clinging to the hope of working plus some other things I don't want to go into on the forum, but I saw the ad and couldn't help e-maiing on it.

I do believe you can be working a little bit and still file for SSD. It has to do with what you're earning. I think it's now that you can't have made more than $900/month and I think that's gross pay. At least that's how I read it, but I could be wrong. I technically haven't filed yet, and again don't want to go into the details here.

I really just e-mailed to get more info. on the job. And it really sounded like a bit of a crazy situation anyway, and there were no benefits attached. Without health care, it wouldn't be worth my even trying it.

Again, sorry to be so cryptic but some things I don't want to spell out on a public forum. Nothing personal!!

That's fine Palady. I am still able to do things just can't do much of anything for 8 hrs a day 5 days a week. I'm hoping my SSDI makes it through so I can get on to working part-time after a year on it. Can't remember the name of the program but do know it exists but I think you have to be unable to work for 12 months before you can start it. I get bored and miss the interaction with people even if it is only a couple of hrs each day. Finding anything where you don't have to bend, stand in one place or sit for too long will be hard though. Oh, and don't want to twist or look up much either. Maybe there isn't anything out there for me.

I have a lot of the same limitations! I chuckled when I read your list in those last couple of sentences! So many think well, if it's just a sitting job, should be no problem, right? Wrong!!

I still think you can be working a couple of hours (has more to do with whether it matches what you say your limitations are, and how much you earn, but I could be wrong on all this). Anyway, maybe straydog will weigh in. What I read on the SSD site when I started digging had to do with the inability to work and that was defined as "gainful employment", along with a few other terms. And if you were making more than $900/month that would disqualify you, but you could be working and making less. At least that's how I read it.

And it's such a difference working a full day, 5 day week than just working a couple of hours here or there. BIG difference!
