Anyone on Embrel?

I was just wondering if embrel works for anyone. I was on methotrexate injections for a while and while it helped my joints alot, i couldnt eat for about 4 days afterwords bc all the nausea. When I had a rummy b4, they wanted to put me on embrel, and the commercials make it look like a miracle drug, but Ive heard that b4. Ive had them send me info from the company that makes it, and they paint a pretty picture, but im not sure. Does it have the nausea side effect? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried typing Embrel into Google? I tried it and there is a wealth of information on this medication. I am familar with Methotrexate, I have never received it, but I have given it a few times, it is a Chemo Therapy medication, I used to give it to Cancer Patients back in the mid 90's and yes your right is can make a person very sick with nausea and vomiting. We often gave out patients antiemetic medications usually before giving the chemo meds!

Anyway I would try and thoroughly research Embrel if I had any questions about taking it! I do wish you well!

thanks white beard. It was a very low dose of methotrexate and the nausea was unbearable, and not worth the joint relief. I will do as you suggest b4 seeing rummy, bc im sure they will suggest it again.

Hi Pixie, I'm not on enbrel but on humira which is another of the biological agents used for RA, PA and Crones etc. It is a wonder drug. I get no side effects. It decreased my inflammatory factor from 200 or 300 odd to 8!!! I couldn't believe waking up with no joint pain or aches, it worked wonders for me for about 4-6 months but then I had to go off it with pneumonia and I've never got back to that wondrous state. But having said that I'd definately reccommend it. You just have to watch infections, get treated immediately, no fighting it on your own. Once I'm sick it takes three or four courses of anti biotics to clear up. I do suffer from asthma so have a tendency to catch bronchitis. Other people on it are fine. Post in the RA site and you'll probably get more feedback.

I'd say go for it. It seems scary initially and self injecting is never easy but if you've already been doing it for mtx you're an old hand. Believe what they say its a miracle drug.

Hows that for a promo!

Humira is suppose to have less side effects though but ask on the RA site for fellow enbrel users to get their feedback.

Thanks so much golitho...Ive noticed that my nuckles are already starting to change shape and my fingers get stuck in funny positions just carrying a plate from the livingroom to the kitchen. I also have ashtma, and even a little sinus infection turns into bronchitis very quickly. Hope that wont be a problem. Anyway, I will take your advice about the RA site.
