Oh...my Lord Sandi!....the next time I need to hire someone for the office.....your Hired! You are a very thorough replyer! To answer your question, I will be 54 this next year, and I had my HA when I was 46. WOW!...what a dumb thing for a Dr to do...telling a patient they are going to have HA on the way to the hospital! I understand them sending you by ambulance, as a precaution, but he could have used a little more decretion about it!.....nothing like raising your blood pressure and keeping your nerves on edge! I'am on a couple meds for the old ticker and such: Crestor 40mg, Atenolol 25mg, Asprin 325mg, and a few vitamin's, Fish Oil 1000mg, One A Day Multivitamin, Vitamin B Complex, Move Free Joit Strengthener, Precocet #10 325mg x2 or as needed for BT, Oxycontin 30mg for my working hrs, and Oxycontin 20mg for my non working hrs and sleeping hrs, and a ton of Metamucil Capsules to keep from blowing my rear out while using the bathroom! :) My heart is doing good, but it's time for me to get back in for my yearly check up with him. I also had surgery last year to have some Melanoma cut off my arm. I was one of the lucky ones and it was only a .6 when they caught it. But man!...did they ever cut a large chunk out of my arm! If I remember right, when you have a cloting plug put in where your Cath was inserted, they have to be very careful not to do the next one in the same place. I was told that the plug they put in stays there forever. Does this sound right to you? ...or is it something I just made up! :) If you have a FB account let me know, and I will send you an invite. I already have Dani and Boxer Lady on there. It's kinda cool to follow each others lives on a more personal basis, and its fun to see who your talking to. This techonolgy is a pretty cool thing now days, and I think one of our newest members here is from New Zeland....isn't that swell! :) I just love it! The hardest thing for me, is to keep up with it all, and I try soo hard to do so. The screen names here are the ones that gets me the most confused, as some of them look like something a man would use, but then I find out that it's a woman I'm talking to. I'm not going to point them out, cause I don't want to stirr up any trouble here! :) Well...I have way out done myself here....so it's time to go.........now Scram! :)
Hi SE ,
Good , it's about time that I found a job that I would be good at. I'm a great typist when both hands are working well....and not so bad with one either...LOL You were really young for a heart attack! But I'm glad that you are doing well now. My father had one at 36 I think . He was really young but smoked like a smokestack when he did. They didn't know so much about heart disease back then but he did survive it and he was really lucky.
As far as that previous cardiologist goes, whatever this ST wave thing is about has been there for a long time. In fact, in most of the ekg's that I have ever had , and I think that I was supposed to be having a major surgery in a few days, and the stress of it added to whatever he thought was going on. I have no doubt that he was trying to scare me into going into the hospital since he wanted to admit me for the weekend into the CC Unit and I was refusing to go....I am stubborn but don't tell anyone.. He did manage to scare me enough that I went but it was hours later and I was still not sure that I was going to stay like he wanted.
You are really lucky that they caught that melanoma in the early stages. That is one fast spreading skin cancer. (hmm my font changed color and I can't get it back) anyway, I know they have to cut a big boarder around it to make sure that the perimeter of it is all clear skin and contains no cancer. I hope that you still go see a dermatologist at least once a year to make sure that there are no more spots????? If not, we can all send you a reminder!!!!!!!
I didn't get a collagen plug last time, I don't think. I had to lay straight and not move for 6 hours or cross my legs either after it. The new cardiologist didn't say anything about using it but he may explain more on Tuesday morning. I didn't ask either to be honest, he did ask if I had any questions and I told him no, since I'd had one before. Now I have a bunch.....LOL Poor guy, I will have him off his schedule if I ask him on Tuesday. I think that I am the first case that morning since I have to be there by 6:30 am....so I think that I will be in there by 7 if things go smoothly. I went and searched out how long a collagen plug stays there after a cardiac cath and it stays in place for 60-90 days. But there is concern about using it again if someone has to have another cath down the road. I guess they only use them once because it can close off an artery if it is used again or force the previous site to reopen.....kind of frightening to think about.
My facebook name is mrspust123- same as my email.....you can go ahead and do the invite/ add on , I am not too familiar with it, so I have trouble finding my way around it sometimes.
