PaLady question?

Jag I got to jump in here a sec, Russell does know what you are saying if you have always talked to him. I have for some strange reason talked to my animals from day one. My dogs and cats alike always have responded back. I have a real mouthy Brittany spaniel and that little boy always gets the last word in regardless, he is too funny. We had a golden retriever named Willy that was very smart, my husband would tell him "go tell your momma you want a treat" and he came to me and got me, if I wasn't in the kitchen he would get me in the kitchen. My kitties were just a hoot when I talked to them.

Thanks for the kind words! I am in the process of closing down the remnants of a small business I had. That's the moving that's going on. I don't talk about the details much on the forum, but I'm doing a lot of grieving right now as even letting go of "remnants" is hard. And oh, the stacks of papers!!!!! And trying to get help to move. Things keep caving in. Was supposed to have help yesterday but it rained and my goddaughter's hubby (one of the helpers) had an emergency appendectomy! So somehow stuff will get moved, although I dread bringing it home because yes, there is a chance I might have to leave my house although I don't know where I'd go. Since the mortgage is thankfully paid I'm trying to stay here and not make any hasty decisions. It's all finances, and, of course, health.

All of the uncertainty is the only reason I don't have a feline friend! I stopped at the Humane Society again the other day just to talk to the kitties. Can't feed them at PetSmart any more either - did I mention that here? The people at the shelter who put the cats at PetSmart had given me permission to give the cats there treats. I've been doing it for a few weeks and then one night this up tight manager who I've never seen before walks in and tells me "you can't feed the cats!" as I'm giving them some Whisker Lkin's treats. Geesh! If it turns out I'm going to stay in this hosue I will get a cat for company and yes, I talk to them all the time! And sing (did you ever sing itsy bitsy kitty instead of itsy bitsy spider? - ok - I've really exposed my craziness!LOL).

And yes, I believe they understand. Before I had to put down my 20 year old cat, he was bedridden for nearly a month with some kind of tumor pressing against his spine. I kept him on those pads they use in nursing homes, and changed him, fed him, gave him steroids 3X/day and within about a month he was back up walking and I had him for another several months which I cherished. But when he was lying flat and couldn't move the vet wanted me to put him down. I was standing with the phone looking at him, with his water and food but unable to get to them, and the vet was asking can he get to his food and water? And I had to explain no, he couldn't get to his water and I walked back in another room, hung up the phone as the vet was pushing me to euthanize him. When I went back in, he had dragged himself to his water bowl! I am not kidding! And this happened a couple more times that I would be talking about how he couldnt' get to his litter and the next morning I woke up and he had dragged himself to his litter. It was like he was hearing me and telling me no, Mom, I CAN get to my water and my litter! Watch! And then I knew I couldn't put him down when he was trying so hard. And I was right!

You probably are one of the people I need to help me organize this place! I have room to bring things here if you consider there will be boxes stacked in corners! I am a book hound, both personally and professionally, but the shelves surrounding me are stuffed and I am starting, slowly, to take a small stack to the library's for sale bin. I have realized that shredding can be lots of fun. I put the shredder by the tv and it's nice to put those garbage bags out! It's the sorting of the papers that makes me walk away like Scarlet O'Hara! And lots of the stuff home is my medical records that have to get organized. And financial stuff. So I can't just pitch it. But I realized as I was unloading some stuff from my trunk last night at midnight and bringing in into the house and stacking it on the floor I was asking myself why are you bringing this home???? I figure winter will be a good time for organizing. If only I can keep that resolve! I also am thinking of it in terms of if I have to move (which is not an impossibility) the more organized I am, the more clutter I've rid myself of, the easier a move will be.

Oh, well, enough of that. I'm glad I gave you a smile!!! Tell me how it goes with your cat when you try to sing that to him! I should say I started that when my cat WAS a kitty, and (ok, now here's more revealing stuff about my crazy side! LOL) I used to turn him on his back and rock him like a baby! Needless to say, he would tolerate that for only a given period of time. Usually enough for a full run of the song, though! Try it and let me know!!! LOL

I loved your cat story too I don't think I could put any of my boys down either. They are family and I talk to them all the time. I call Tomi the escort because everytime I come in the house he will greet me and not leave me until I get to where I'm stopping in the house. I went to a play that my oldest granddaughter was in this evening and when I got home Grayson gave Tomi the night off and he was the escort. They both share a package of Whiska Choice Cuts with gravey every night around 9 o'clock the rest of the time they eat dry food from their dish but around 9 each evening I swear they both meow
Whiska time. If for some reason we would forget they will come into the bedroom and wake me up to get their bag of whiska's (I add treats) Grandpy doesn't. I absolutely love these guys to death. If you lived closer to KS we have a wild little momma cat and her 5 babies outside that we've adopted as well.
They are starting to tame now and one little black one with a couple white dots has a home but I really hate to break up the family but know they'll love him/her. I'd share them with you because I know you'd love them too. Momma cat is really homily not much of a looker but she has babies that don't even look like her but she is a wonderful momma.

Man what a rambler I am...just love my babies sorry to be a bore.

Oh no, I cannot handle those boogers. I always get a bait from Home Depot. Its like a bar and I break pieces off (wearing rubber gloves) and put the pieces out where they need to be. I also make sure the pooches cannot get ahold of any of the stuff too. Nasty things.

Oh, please, let's not go from cats to talking about mice!!! I hate mice!!

I saw on Animal Planet that Rag Doll's are the size of a small dog and can get up to 25 lbs.!

Oh to have babies again....Sigh....

Admittedly, I do miss having babies but I also have to say that I'm rather glad that I'm not having to buy two pairs of shoelaces every week. Hahaha. One of our four has a thing for shoelaces and until we broke him of it I really was having to buy at least two pairs a week. But our boys are all great. There's the 3 brothers and my one old man. My old man was originally feral but after being picked up by the pound, healed up, and then adopted by me...he's a big love these days. The BF says that he's distinctly my cat since he generally won't come for anyone else, and won't even let anyone else touch him if I'm home. Apparently he will polish everyone's ankles when I'm gone, but if I'm in the house - he doesn't want to be caught cheating. lol

Charzy.....we got one of thoses laser lights yesterday. The breeder is pretty picky, but felt that he will be ready by this next weekend.  We will post photos as soon as possible. Chutzy sent us a link where we can post them.......good people, around here!......now Scramo Whamo! :)

Screaming, here's a helpful hint for an oversized cat.
Russell was having some issues peeing outside his litter box at times due to his size and this was not acceptable but not his fault. We went to the tractor supply store and got a plastic oval feed trough that measures 26"LX22"WX7"D. Along with this we purchased a plastic rectangular tray with lips of it to go under the litter box to catch excess litter. We have $41.00 in this litter box but no more issues and Russell took to it with no problems.
