Had the epidural

Got the epidural done Thursday morning and it seems to have went ok. As of right now I do have a decrease in my resting pain levels but my active pain is still just as bad as ever. I know it will take some time before I know what the full effects are going to be.

The good news though is that I have not had any of that pain increase that can occur a day or two after a steroid injection. I had some brief pain increase during the injection but once the medicine spread out a bit it went back to "normal" pretty quickly.

One thing I will say is the doctor who did the injections was very concerned about my comfort through out and she took the time to fully explain exactly what she was going to do before hand as well as what part of the procedure she was doing while it was going on.

Jim its good hearing from you and that you seem to be doing ok after the eppie. I am so glad that the person doing it was  genuinely intersted in you as a patient. Boy, that's a rarity these days. Will keep my fingers crossed that you continue to get more relief as times goes on.

FunnyGurl Yes the Epidural Injection is the same as what they want to give you!! For some people they can be quite effective and many get months and months of relief. Others like me get only a few days or a few weeks of relief! Everyone is different! I do hope that if you get them that they work well for you!

On Monday I have to call the physiologist who suggested the epidural for a 2 week followup. Going to make it a rather busy week at the doctor's more than likely as that will be the same week I have an appointment with my PCP to follow up on my nice foot infection (which is getting better) as well as discuss how well the pain meds are working and hopefully make an adjustment if needed.

After I see the physiologist then I get to start my aquatic therapy. Nothing like going and playing in the pool in December and January.

Yay! I'm glad that someone else can get relief with the steroid injections. Unfortunately I'm like WB and the amount of relief they give me is not worth it. But I've had a lot of help due to the change of climate recently and am in a warmer area. So, regardless of what my 'neighbors' around here are like, at least I hurt less.

Glad that you are getting some relief. Just be careful with the frequency of the injections. And the dose they give you. Too much can create many problems that you don't need .
