I just got back from my two week vacation to florida.  Some of you might remember during last summer my husband cancelled out vacation for me.  He didn't want me in the florida heat.

Then everyone on here helped me with idea for traveling with Chronic Pain.  Alot of your idea were wonderful.  I had stock piled pain meds which was the best idea!  I was still limited and the pain didnt hit with a vengence until yesterday the day we got back.

Now the family all know about my termial illness and they were treating me like I was already dead!  Man o man that was hard trying to explain that everything was really ok.  I must of sounded so flippent!!! yeah

For the next vacation I will take a cane though.  I'm still on the fence about a cane.

Glad that you were able to go on vacation, but the treatment from family must've been a bit hard to deal with. I can't imagine how difficult it was for your family to hear about your medical problems , so I think that must be part of why they reacted as they did.
As for using a cane, I have had to make that decision, albeit , it was a while ago and I still have my moments when I get stubborn and refuse, but it really does make a difference when you are trying to walk. It gives you something to hold onto....

I've wondered where you've been. Guess i forgot you went on vacation. I forget a lot of things these days! LOL

Here's an idea - take the cane next time and bat the family members over the head who are treating you like you're already dead. That'll show them you're not! LOL

Welcome home and hope your pain eases up some...try a nice long soak in a hot bath...
There are plenty of pretty canes out there I have a black cane with a pearl handle from
fashionable canes, it helps keep me steady, they have some very nice choices of canes
I saw someone with a nice wooden cane, but those are kinda pricey...
Lots of soft healing hugz and hope your getting lower pain levels soon...

This is the place Chart is talking about.  I have gotten a couple of canes from this place.  They custom cut them to your size.  You will want a session with a PT so they can show you the best fit, how to manage stairs, how to walk properly with it, which hand is best for you to hold it in etc.  I have no connection with this place.  I like it because it gives you lots of ideas as to how many different styles are really out there.  Once you have a cane you like, it makes it less icky.  I love all my canes.

PAlady if I had a cane a few times on the trip the teenagers would of had concussions..yeah   Its not like they didn't have a tv, 2 laptops and a sony xbox360 to keep them busy they still had to fight over the personal vents in the SUV the WHOLE time.

I would find it easier on the pain if I broke down and bought the dang cane.  But my co-workers would ask so many questions.  I'm such a private person.  I don't want anyone to think I can't do my job.  I walk alot at work about 20 miles a day.  No joke!!  Just to get to my desk is 1/4 mile.

I have only told two people at work about my condition.  One of them hovers over me like hes a mother hen.  I tell him to go away all the timesmilewinkgrin   Hes a great guy but I even work circles around him.yeah

Chart I remember you telling me about fashioncanes I went to the website lasttime we talked about this.  I think when I get home tonight I will sit down and bit the bullet and get one.
