Hello Everyone!


Sorry I haven't been posting much lately, it's been crazy busy around here what with my Mom's house coming next week and all the details I have to take care of! I had to drive down to S.E. Fla. on Wed. morning for my monthly pain Doc apt. and to get all the Christmas junk thats at my other house.



Well, I'm not sure I ever mentioned it w/ all my other health problems but back when I took that long trip in my car last Aug. something happened to my eye. Then a month later I had to go back to Jersey to drive my Mom back down to Fla. My eye got worse!



Lately I've been making a lot of trips back and forth to S.E. Fla at 500mi. round trip and my eye has gotten to the point my wife made me go see an eye doc yesterday!



We are leaving for Virginia on Monday> Pete Jr's Ship is coming back from the Middle East and will be in Norfolk on Tuesday!!! YIP-EEEE!!!! I can't wait to see him and wouldn't miss this trip for the world!!! OH>> He just got a promotion!!! He's a Petty Officer 3rd class now!!! I'm so proud of him and now he won't have to sallute his older brother anymore!!!



Back to my dumb eye> Anyway, my eye had gotten very red as it usually does after driving alot but this time a sore apeard on the white part of my eye! It has been getting bigger and bigger every time I drive. I had been putting Visean in it but it hasn't helped. I feels like I have something in my eye all the time, Skeye, how do you put up w/ this eye stuff I'll never know!!!



So I called this eye clinic, the only one close by where there are 5 different Dr's and the head Doc is out of Tampa and has several of these places in and around Tampa. The put me through a bunch of tests and then I got to see the Big Cheese Doc himself! Just lucky there! The guy had done over 60,000 surgeries and invented some catterac procedure that bears his name so I guess the guy knows what he's doing!



His concusion, "I don't really know what it is but it's awfull big!!!" "Why didn't you come in sooner??" Geeze Loueze!! W/ everything else going on and all the other Dr's, shots and pills and all the SSD crap, I'm just overwelmed and going broke from them all!!! Just went to my Uro, that's another story> Testosterone shot every 3 weeks now instead of 4 or I turn into a wimpering old lady!!!!!



Anyway, he prescribed some antibiotic/steroid drops and wanted me to come back next week for a biopsy> NOT!!! I'm going to Va!!!! So I'll go back to see him the following week and have to have my working wife drive me!!! He said I wouldn't be able to drive after the biopsy!! Crapsville!!! What's next??? Oh yea, the two growths on my Accillese heal(sp?) that keep getting bigger daily or the fact that I can hardly walk w/ this stupid lower back that Stupid Pete destroyed >> "Pulling to many Petes!!!"



I just don't care! I'm going to Va. to see my Baby Boy get off that Mighty Ship> {They always call it "The Mighty Battan"} Oh I can't wait to see him back on US soil again!!



So as usual, sorry for all the whining> I know, I gotz more wine than Ernest & Jullio!!! But no one wants to hear about it so Y'all are stuck w/ me and my problems!!!

Pete, I was in the Navy for 6.5 yrs and know first hand how impressive it is to see all the sailors standing at the rails around the sides of the ship when it comes into port. Makes you proud to be an American! Tell him congratulations on becoming an E-4, more money yippee!!!!

The eye thing sounds scary. I'm glad you finally decided to see the doc and that he isn't taking it lightly. Hope you get good results from the biopsy but do let us know how it turns out.

Did you ever get rescheduled for your xray for SSDI? I did find a local lawyer locally that handles SSDI cases that only takes payment if they win from your back pay so I guess I'm all set to file an appeal if I get denied. They are still reviewing the medical portion of my records at this point. I'm getting an injection done this coming Thurs. so I'll get to call my case worker to update him so maybe he will have some info for me then. I don't like to call and bug him cause people say they will put you at the bottom of the pile if you call too much.

Have a safe trip to Norfolk and hope the weather holds out for you!!!!!

Pete, try very very warm compresses on your eye as that can help...I'm down to two steroid eye drops a day
but they make my eye's so itchy I have to take a benadryl at times, (I'm sensitive to steroids) make sure
you don't get the generic steroid eye drops as they don't help as good from what my eye doctor said, I had to pay
50. for mine...so now wrap the warmed up wash cloth around a wooden spoon and place it on your eye, and do this
several times a day 4-5 at least...it should help...
eye pain is very hard to deal with, hope yours gets better, soon...

Pete aren't the eye problems fun. I get ulcers on the inside of my eyelids from crohns disease. It feels like there is something in my eye all the time when they pop up. Constantly tearing up and so red and bloodshot you could drive across the state on them, looks like a road map, lol.

Have fun seeing your son and enjoy.

Pete, I think I remember back that you were going to dress as a pirate at one of our vitual meetings. If you are not careful you won't have to dress the part. A peg leg, eye patch etc. I will keep you in my prayers as you and your working wife head to VA to see the newly promoted son. Be careful and don't pull any more Pete's for awhile.

Jag & Chart, Thanks for your responses!!!

Jag first let me thank you for your 6 1/2 years protecting my lazy *** here at home while you were in the most Powerful Navy on Earth!!!! Thanks for the congrads! He's been waiting since last spring to get it, they somehow screwed up the paperwork back then and he had to wait!!! But all is GOOD now!

No! They didn't call or write a letter yet about the X-rays, thanks! I forgot about it. I better call them but it's Sat and the are not there, Dadgumit!!!!!

Chart, thanks for your advice! The spoon thing sounds conforting, I'll try it! You are right about EYE pain!!! Give me some old fashion back or neck pain any day!!! Who ever came up w/ the saying "Better than a sharp stick in the eye" really knew what they were talking about!!~!

My heart goes out to you and Skeye!!! This SUCKS!!!>> When they took a picture of this thing on my eye and put in on the computer screen, I couldn't beleive my eye what I was seeing!!!
It looked like a horror show!! This ugly greenish brown nasty ulcer looking thing except it was raised up on my eye, it was really GROSS!!! no wonder it hurts!! Do you have something like that Chart??


I had what they call Pinguecula's {sp?} on my eyes before but nothing like this!! In fact the Doc told me I had lots of these pinguecula things on both eyes but not to worry about them yet!! YET??? Geeze!!

Anyway, THANKs again for the support!!

Oh Congrats about your son and I hope he can make it far...get some rest and hope the compressess help..
No, ulcer on the eye, my problems began with an infectious eye boil, had a fever of 102 , ended up having 3 surgeries on the right eye for that boil and the doc wanted to do a 4th surgery, but I said no and still have a small lump in my right eye, with a constant eye infection that is being made worse with the drying of sjogren's, I'll always need eye drops and have had eye plugs put in to help with the dryness and it keeps the infection under control, until this last time where it hurt so bad, the steroid drops were needed..

(my eye doctor is wanting to use an antibotic cream which I'd could go into anaphlasis shock with and if it comes down to that then I'd have to be hospitalized to do that, can't win for losing eh...lol)

Hi Pete,

As Char said everything is really hectic at the moment with exams fast approaching & all. I haven't been doing too much posting lately. I try to read when I can, but that's been getting harder & harder for me (I'm sure stress & heavy use of my eye doesn't help). I'm sorry to hear that you are having eye problems too! They are certainly no fun. I'm glad you got to see the big brain though! Sounds like you're quite a complicated case -- welcome to my world turn! I just hope that they can find you an answer & fix it. Maybe the antibiotics will help. Positive thinking!

Glad to hear that your son is coming home! I know that you are very proud of both of your sons! Will he be staying through the holidays? Enjoy your trip! I hope it's not too painful for you!

     I am so sorry to hear you have eye problems, and just before the holidays at that! I hope the eye doctor can help get some answers for you. And hopefully you will able to see and be comfortable before the family all gets together next month?

 

     I got some devistating news from a few of my doctors about a week ago. The eye surgeon was the worst. Even just thinking about it all, I want to cry. I can certianly relate to eye problems. But!! Enough of all that talk! Not worth thinking about so close to the holidays. *hugg* Please know you are in our hearts and prayers here, and that we hope you have a speedy recovery from biopsy. Travel safly and try to not over do it (I mean it!)!

I just read through your post here, and wanted to tell you that I'm sorry for the eye problems you are having. That's the last thing you need! I hope it clears up quickly. I know the biopsy is just another thing to take care of; but it sounds like you have an excellent doctor, and I'm glad he's being thorough in his care for you...

I also hope you have a good visit w/ your son. Every time you speak of your boys, I can tell how proud you are of them!

Don't apologize for whining, or rambling, in your posts!! I know that I look forward to reading your updates, and I know I'm not the only one! No matter how bad things are you with, your sense of humor always comes through in what you write. You've put a smile on my face many times, or made me laugh (an airport bathroom story still comes to mind!!) LOL So, thank you for that - I can be feeling overwhelmed w/ things, and your posts always cheer me up!!

Anyway, you are special to us here, and we'll miss you while you are gone. Have a safe trip, and a good visit w/ your son, ok? And take care of yourself!!

Thanks everyone for all th support! I'm humbled as usual by all the attention!
My eye feels MUCH better than it did! Those steroid drops work really good on the pain! I'm just so sorry for y'all w/ eye pain! I just had a little taiste of it and couldn't stand it! Wopps! I went and left this post sitting for 2hrs when the phone rang! Whats the chances it goes through?
I'm sending NOW w/o waisting time if it gets swallowed!!>>>>

I'm a little late getting to your thread, and I know you may be on the road again and not read this for awhile, but I sure am glad you're getting the eye taken care of. I don't know much about eye issues, except the recent development of these things called "floaters" which make the vision in my one eye kind of blurry off and on, but you're doing the right thing getting it taken care of.

Be sure you've got very good sunglasses for driving - ones that protect your eyes from both kinds of UV rays, as you don't want to irritate them further.

I do hope you have a great visit with your son!!!

We'll look forward to your stories upon your return (and stay out of airport bathrooms! LOL).

Hello All
I'm here in nofolk w/ my son using his laptop. We had a great time yesterday welcoming the ship and all the sailors back to the States! My son Pete Jr. looks GREAT! He said it was the happiest day of his life coming home and seeing us there waiting for him!



We were at the front of all the people on the peir of course and the TV crews were there and since my wife and I were screaming and yelling like crazy people, they came over and interviewed us!!! Yes we were on the 6:00 news last night and again about 5 times this a.m.



It's lousy weather here, rain and wind but 25 degrees warmer than yesterday so we are going to an IMAX to see a Christmas Story today in Va. Bch.



Hope everyone is having a pain free day. I'll check back when I get back to Fla. tomorrow!!!

    Hey Petey Boy! Sounds like your havinga swell time of it there. You have every right to be proud of your son too! I'm glad we have young men and women protecting this country and everything it stands for. My hats off to all of them! We are in the flight path right here in Wichita KS...and the KC-135's are always flying over the house....I often think about them...and am greatful for their service to this country. It's not thought of very often....but when were asleep, those young men and women...are doing their job, and we can count on them. We all need to appreciate this! Take care my friend!
