really suffering today

I just cant ease my pain today.. I cant stand it. I already took a bath, used heat, and took a muscle relaxer and 1 of my 3 allowed oxycodone for the day.

I saw my pain doc yesterday but had my 4 year old with me so I couldnt pay attention and had trouble communicating.

what else can I do? what if i called the pain management doctor and told them what was happening? what would or could they do?

I also have a fent patch and I change it every 48 hours. The last One I put on did not stick well and I am wondering if that is part of the problem. I am due to change my patch tonight, maybe I should do it asap??

any advice is appreciated. I have never called my om docs before. they kind of scare me.

Do you have a portible tens unit to use at home, have you tried that...just wondering..Usually
I use my portible tens unit with my heating pad and it helps, sure wish I knew what else you could try...

     Merry Girl...I don't think it will hurt a thing to call your PM asap. That would be the safest thing to do at the moment. I do wish you could feel better! I hate to see anyone in pain.

Merrygirl, Those patches are notorious for falling off. I tried them once before I started on Methadone and I gave them back..I couldn't get them to stay on and I got a rash...they didn't help because I couldn't get the full effect.  I have heard many people do like them and they work well...I also know that everybody is different.. I only get pain relief from Methadone and Oxycodone IR 30 mg.  but some people don't like them and that's ok... Just be careful..and don't wait until it's too late to call your Dr.  They may help you and give you something else...Good Luck...and Merry Christmas

thanks for everyones support. not much better right now. i have these horrible knots in my back, like a permanent muscle spasm, or maybe my kidneys?? I cant tell. this is the first time in months i had to jimmy rig my patch. I havent had to do that and I have been on fentanyl for months so it sounds like i am lucky.

if I am not better tomorrow I can go see my pcp and rule out something else.

I used Tegaderm  over my F. patches back in my time of using those. It was the only way I could get one to stay put. If yours is not sticking well, that means you are not getting the medication from it properly. My drugstore ordered the Tegaderm for me  they were a little pricey so I cut them in half to make them go farther.

 

You may call the PM office and speak with the nurse and see what she thinks the dr could or would do for you. It never hurts to put the call in who knows they may have something else they can pass on that will help. Worth a try anyway.

 

Its just rotten to feel this bad any time. Hope you get some relief.
