The Saga continues! I posponed my eye surgery!

Well my dear friends and family, I had a rude awakening this morning! As usual, I was up most of the night, woke at 3:00am w/ mucho pain and couldn't get back to sleep so got up and got the coffee/espresso mixture brewing! I'm sure lots of Y'all know about that program!


At around 7:15am I started getting tired so went back to bed just as my sweetheart was getting up, even w/ 3/4 of a pot of very strong black java I can still go back to sleep> I'm amune to the stuff! Then at 8:05am my cell phone rang, it was the hospital telling me I had to pay $500.00 today in order to have my surgery on Weds!!! $500.00 for what?? Your insurance deductable hasn't been met yet! Huh? Oh yea, I switched to my wife's insurance last Aug. so the two major surgeries I had along w/ countless Dr. visits and procedures were on the old Ins!!!!



So lets think about this for a minute as I wipe the sleep out of my horror show eye! I'm going to pay a $500.00 deductable thats only good untill Dec.31st and then start paying another $5oo.00 again for 2010?>>> Not gonna happen!!! So Lets just move it to next year, makes sense? But then I hear a voice from the peanut gallery in the other room>>>>> You can't have a eye surgery when the boys are home, I won't allow it!!!



She's 100% right, my boys don't deserve that! So we resceduled for the 13th!! So I'll just have to wait! Then later the Dr's office called, the Doc wants to do it the first week of the new year. I lied, I can't I'm going out of state and already bought the plane tickets and they are non changable!!! OK, it will have to be the 13th then! Good! Onward and upward! So then my next plan is to go into town for a Dr. apt. to have my now every 3 week testosterone shot at 10:15am!!



Get there and there are so many old folks there that all the parking spaces were taken! Park on the street and go sit for an hour just to get a ding~dang shot! Oh, I'm not going to forget this time!!! The Uro told me there was a good Dr. he knew that I should go to to be my new G/P, he told me about him the first time I went there and asked if he knew someone because I needed someone badly!!



Well since I was only seeing the nurse, I asked her if she could ask the good doc? She did and gave the Docs name to the girl at the desk and asked if she would call. This Doc is not taking new patients but maybe if the patient's name was given by a Dr. friend, they would make an exception???



So she called and they said they would call me back after checking w/ the doc. I told the girl that it was kind of urgent because I was running very low on my perscriptions!!! Actually, I started taking a half dose of Effecsor last week to make it last till I found a new Doc!!! BAD TIME to be cutting back on Effecsor w/ all the stress right now!!!



She was a really nice girl from Neew England, couldn't miss the accent!!! She started calling other Docs and finally found one who agreed to see me at 1:30pm!!! GREAT!!! So I went and did some much needed Christmas shopping, (hadn't started yet!) Then headed over at 1:00pm to write the book all new Dr's want you to write and w/ people lioke us, there is sure a lot to write!!!!!!



Nice Guy from India> Dr. Kahn!!! Asked me a bunch of questions and told me he wants blood work done and for me to get a colonoscopy!! Yes, I'm way overdue!! OK Doc, then explained about the deductable and eye surgery and I promiss I'll get one after my eye procedure! OK he said!



Then he asked if there was anything else?? Well there is this thing on my Accilles Heal, this lump I have that hurts like crazy and keeps getting bigger! I showed him and like all docs do, he pushed it real hard w/ his thumb! I screamned OUCH and he said, "You have a ruptured Accilles tendin!!! You MUST get this MRI'ed right away!!!



GEEZE LOUWEZE!!! Does it ever end??? No No No, Not untill after the eye deal next year! I've lived w/ the pain so far and besides compared to my back pain, it ain't nothin but a thang!!! You could do further damage Pete! I'll pamper it Doc, I promiss! Oh boy here we go again!



The other Doc, my Uro wants me to see never called back!!! Oh well, I liked Dr. Kahn, a straight shooter and he did write all my scripts except the narcotics and he has a good friend who is a pain Doc he is refering me to, OK next year! !!



OK, I think thats enough wine before dinner< Sorry Y'all! I'm just falling apart! The crazy thing is, remember when I fell in that hole at work last summer??? My neck hurt so bad, I didn't notice all the othert pains till later on like my right knee that got destroyed in that hole. This is on the right ankle and thats the only thing I can think of when I could have hurt it. It was shortly after then that the bump started growing! I thought it was a syste or something and my old nit~wit doc did too! This new Doc sad he just treated a man w/ the same thing only his wasn't as big as mine! He had to have it surgically fixed! Oh Crap!



OK, this time I mean it, Stick a Big Fork in me!!! I'm really done this time!!!

What a mess. Not just you, but the whole insurance situation too. Let's spare the big fork for the Christmas Goose, sounds like your tush is already well done! Can't you get someone to give you some Effexor samples. You know the half pill thing is like treading on thin ice. With all the stress of the surgery and holidays, the last thing you need is a depressive break thru. Ask all your nurses, you would be surprises to see where they sample. I am sure you PM or PCP have samples. Promise that you will check arround.

I think it must be contagious - so many of us on this site having more and more problems! Don't get me started on insurance!

But please don't put that eye off any longer than the 13th, and if it gets worse even with your sons home GO GET IT DONE! This isn't something to fool with, as you should know.

Ahem....do you think you might slow down a bit now????? LOL

Oh, as far as effexor, the docs won't have samples anymore because there's a newer version. But the lower doses (depending on your dose - I take the 150ER, which isn't available in generic yet) are available as generics and you might be able to buy a few tablets to tide you over - even if you took a couple of lower dose ones to equal the dose you were taking. The instant release ones are pretty cheap, but you just need to take them more often. It's better than nothing or a lowered dose!

Pete Buddy! I must say, even with all your troubles, I love hearing about them! You have a wonderful flair, and quite an entertaining writing style! Simply a joy to read! It is never fun, receiving bad news from a Doctor on ones health, but, you seem to take it in stride rather well. We all could learn a lesson or two from your comical outlook. Pete, maybe some of the paper used to cover tables at events. I think it comes in rolls so you would probably have left overs.

Did the doc say what the recovery time is for the ankle surgery?

Sorry you got so much on your plate right now, Pete. Enjoy some good times with your family then worry about it. I'll be thinking about you!!

Just one more week till your boys are home! that's something for you to look forward too...wish them well for me...
Try warm compress on that eye, they might help...I'm supposed to do those several times a day, but I don't have the time...
30's is cold for Florida, burr...and don't send it over here..geezee...not unless you got plenty of hot chocolate...hehehe...

WB, I promiss I'll be in Tampa on the 13th having my eye fixed!!! I'm more worried about it than I'm letting on to those close to me. I wish I could have it done today like originally planned but this Homecoming of my sons after a year apart is just too important to my family to have the whole holliday "all about Pete the invallid"!! If I had to wear a patch on my eye w/ stitches in it and be miserable, I wouldn't be able to drive or take my boys out fishin and manatee/wildlife watching and that would really suck! They are so looking forward to that. Their close cousin, my God son (Navy / Marine Corman> Medic / Irak war vet) will be coming up to join us for at least one day of fishing! Just like when they we used to when they were all growing up together!!! They haven't seen him in two years! As always, thanks for caring Master> This grasshopper will do as you say! Then one day may snatch the pebble from your hand!!!

Jag, Mom made it here last night right after dark after a day of stress. My older goofball brother broke his foot (dropped something on it!) and couldn't drive her here so she drove herself!!! I couldn't go get here as I had to be here when the movers brought her stuff here. She is a stuborn old turkey and was already on her way here when I got the news she was driving!

This was after the movers got all her things and she couldn't find her cat!!! She called crying and said, "I can't lose another cat, he's all I have left! She had the whole neiborhood looking for him and then thought it might have got in the back of the moving van!!! She was frantic, all she needed after having to put her other cat to sleep! She finally found him still in the house under a chair she had looked under 5 times already! He's a real fantum that Charley!! But Thank God she made it here and I fed her a good dinner and put her to bed w/ Charley in our spare bedroom! Charley and Rose (my dog) got along just fine together after Rose got pinned in the nose once! I put the two birda (Angie & Ponyboy in the other bedroom and closed the door away from Charley!! The Doc didn't mention how long the recovery would be for my ankle. To early to say w/o an MRI I guess. Thanks for posting Jag!!! Your the BEST!!!

Chart, Hot Chocolate??? Yea now thats a great idea!! To hell w/ the waisteline it's time to be Jolly!!! I think I'll get some for when the boys come. Maybe I'll give it to them before the beers start flowing!!! You know how sailors can be!! Everyone is sleeping but the pain in my back had me up at 3:00am so here I sit in the dark pecking away at this keyboard by flashlight thinking about how lucky I am to have friends like you Chart!!! Your post is just too funny. I could see your mom driving with one cat, plus another dead cat in a box. Better hurry and get that cat in the ground. It's gonna get stinky unless she was keeping it in her freezer?
