chronic pain

Hello,
Had sciatica a while back maybe five years ago and used a chiropractor and found it helpful it took awhile to work through it but in the mean time it was very painful. It went down my left leg and I could put my shoe on with out help. Walking was a treat to say the least. I spent a great deal of time in bed and on muscle relaxers. I don't wish that on anyone as it is a painful condition to have. I hope that you can find some relief and I hope warmth as here in NY it is about 5 degrees out. I have CP in my lower back and the cold dose me no favors. They have taken me off all pain medication except the two hydrocodon I take at 3a.m. for pain in my sleep. I too would like to welcome you to Healing Well. I am so sorry you have to be here but very glad that you found us. As WhiteBeard said in his post this is the best CP forum around. We have a great group of people here and the one thing we all have in common and understand is CP. None of us are drs but we do often share experiences of what does or does not work for our own situations. Its a little slow right now because of is being a weekend but others will pop on from time time.

Sciata is a very painfull condition. Unfortunately medications and sometimes physical therapy are about the only things I know that can help it. Have you been tried on any of the medications specifically for nerve pain such as Lyrica, Cymbalta or Neurotin? Most pain meds will not help with nerve pain. None of us like to be on medications and yes we all get fed up from time to time, so you are not alone in that respect. But, sometimes medications are the only way we can get a little bit of relief.
