BlueJet2 is in the hopsital

Hi everyone,

Wanted to let everyone know that BlueJet2 got admitted thru ER Friday night in severe pain. Poor thing was left laying on a gurney in ER for 8 hours writhing in pain before she was finally admitted and put in a room. Boy, if that won't kick up back pain I don't know what will.

She was admitted by a hospitalist and a neurosurgeon was called in and that was a waste. The neuro asked if there was any new  injury and she said no. he looked at her and said, well since there is not a new injury I don't see any point in me taking over your care and walked out!!!!! Yesterday a new hospitalists saw her and increased her IV pain meds a tad. They still do not have her pain meds where they should be to get the pain under control.

She is going to ask who ever comes in today to run a CT Scan. The first one mentioned doing this but hasn't. It has been many years since she has had one and is way past due. She says the pain is a nerve pain and how she is feeling is nothing like what she has ever experienced before, she is really worried something new is going on. She has nerve pain but they have never decided if its her diabetes or from her back.

So, keep her in your prayers please.

How horrendous to be left so long in ER. Hospitals are nightmares aren't they? You always seem to get these arrogant doctors and nurses intermingled with the caring ones, makes my blood boil. Poor Blue jet, please send her my warmest get well wishes. I hope they run the CT scan and she gets some answers.

I only go to hospitals as last resorts, I'm sure most of us with constant pain are the same, so when we get there we want help, not to have to jump hoops prooving our worth!!!!

How horrible to be treated that way! I just don't understand that type of treatment. You would think she was in a third world country or something! I sincerely hope she gets to feeling better.

Sending you healing hugs even if you can't read this. What a lousy experience. I sure hope next report is that a new doc is on the case and is doing a better evaluation.

Hello to All:

First of all, thank you Susie for starting this thread. I appreciate so much the love and support that you guys give so well!

I am still in a tremendous amount of pain, so I'm going to keep this short, but this has been a frustrating experience to say this least. After a lot of begging and pleading, I finally got the hospitalist to raise the dosage of Dilaudid to the amount my PM had recommended should be the dose they start at for me. She would only agree to do it for 4 doses, and then it will be dropped back down to 6mg regardless of how I am feeling.

I am very concerned that something is not right with my fusion, and have been begging for a CT Scan as well, and she refuses to do it. She feels that a CT Scan is not warranted since I did not take a fall or re-injure myself in some way. She has no respect for the fact that I may know my body the best.

She is having a Physiatrist (a doctor of physical therapy) come in today to evaluate whether or not a few days in an in-patient physical therapy rehabilitation program might do me some good. Normally I would be willing to try anything they ask me to do, but I am concerned that if my fusion or any of the hardware is compromised in some capacity that it could do more harm than good, but obviously, no one respects my opinion on the matter.

I will try to keep you updated on how things are going, or at least keep Susie updated and then she can let you all know how I am doing.

Lorie I totally forgot about the Patient Advocate. They can and do work wonders. I used one with my husband once and they got the ball rolling after firing a dr. Please call the main desk there at the hospital and just say you need to speak with a patient advocate. If your hospital has one you will get to speak with them right then & that person will come down to your room. Hugs.

Why are these doctors so scared of relieving your pain? Or finding its source? How incredibly frustrating for you Laurie.

I'm sending you all my healing energies and gentle hugs. I really hope this patient advocate can work some miracles for you. Do all hospitals have one? How much would it cost for the CT scan? Is that why they won't order one, cost saving measures?

Makes me feel cross that this doctor won't listen to you.

Hello everyone and thank you again for your hugs, well wishes, prayers, and friendship.

I am completely worn out and drained from spending the day fighting to get the CT Scan done, as well as for a shower. I finally succeeded on both - I got my shower this evening, and will have the CT Scan tomorrow a.m.

The doctor happened to stroll in at about 8pm right as I was coming out of the shower. She started telling me that I looked like a completely different person, and maybe I was ready to go home. I told her to just stick around for 20 minutes and she will see my body return to the constant pain and muscle spasms. about an hour after she left, the right side of my low back down the back of my right leg and up my back to my shoulder blade seized up into spasms so bad that I could not stand up straight, I could not sit down, I could not bear weight on my right leg at all - I stood holding on to the side table and the bars on the bed, balancing on one leg while I screamed in pain.

My nurse helped me get back into bed and made me a warm pad for my back, and gave me my next dose of pain meds a little early. The spasms have eased for now, but I am left with terribly sore muscles in addition to the horrible pain that brought me here in the first place.

       I am so sorry I havnt responded sooner. I am waaay behind on my reading. I hope you get the CT scan results quickly. I agree it seem loooong over due. Please update when you can. I am sure you must be down right exhausted. Try to rest during those few moments that you can. And gosh, dont bash in the heads of the increadibly rude medical personel. *HUGGS!!*

I have heard from Bluejet and she is receiving about the worst care imaginable. Oh there is a patient advocate at the hospital alright and she is as usless as they come. So, no help there. She has a worthless hospitalist overseeing things, the one who said a CT was not warranted, ugh. So, no help there either. There was a showdown with the head nurse and pretty much its all for naught. Their idea of good care is to wean her off the IV Dilaudid and slap a Fentanyl patch on her and have her see her own neuro & PM drs. She says they are wanting to do this to release her in the next few days. So she still has no answers as to why she is in severe pain. My heart goes out to her for all of the needless suffering she has and is going thru.

Sandi FYI she is in the Goshen unit. I do not know if you have had any dealings with them in the past but BlueJet is having a terrible time there. I know the two of you are fairly close to each other there in the town.
