Hi Kimber, I am so sorry to hear your insurance is dictating to you what you can take for pain! As for your PCP can't you see another one that may prescribe something stronger and less harmful to your stomach?
Meanwhile, knees I know about. I wrap mine in wheat packs heated in the microwave, put them up on the couch or bed but DO NOT put a pillow under them. This can shorten the tendons and get you into all sorts of striffe if you suffer from arthritis. HEAT is the go. Shorten your stride so you're not putting the knees under pressure, especially on sloping ground, take small steps all the time.
If there is a lot of swelling, ice can also bring relief at the end of the day. Heat to start up and ice to finish with, is my day time ritual. Rest as much as you can, but warm them up again before use. Sort of helps lubricate the joint.
I hope this helps, I also wear tube supports if they get too swollen, helps keep them insulated too.
Best wishes, its scary how much money we spend on health, golitho
