Sundays are our day to share ideas and ways to do different chores around the home and make them easier for each of us. One thing I find exceptionally hard is making the bed! So you say, just don't MAKE the bed...lol I can go just so long and it makes me crazy, I tried it. If the bed hasn't been made by bedtime I make hubby wait until I tidy it up, then he can climb into bed. I know...don't even say it. ...lol But the worst is changing the sheets on washing day.

Right now there are a clean set of sheets in the dryer and they have to make it to the bed before I/we can climb in. Sometimes I don't like to wait and will just do it on my own...not smart. But otherwise I have a helper...hubby! For those who live alone maybe you can ask a neighbor kid to help you get those sheets stretched back on. A good amount of pay would be 1/2 a dozen cookies. No need for cash, IMHO, kids need to learn about lending a helping hand.

What are your suggestions on making the bed or even tidying up the bedroom?

Uh-oh. I hope everyone has some for me because I need help! LOL

Course I guess the clutter in the bedroom isn't much different than the clutter around the rest of the house, except lots more little bottles and jars that collect dust.

A maid???

It always amazes me how two people can clutter up a space so quickly. I am constantly sorting and pitching trash and stuff along with putting things where they need to go. It really drives me crazy to not have things in order and to have to look for something that should have been put back in the spot where they were taken from. Hubby has a way of using something and leaving where he used it so now it can't be found where it should be and then after its location you have to put it back. He is the worst offender and I'm a close second..

Well my first thought was just leave the bed made up and sleep in the recliner in the living room! I have done that a few times! I will agree making the bed is a very difficult task. I hate getting ready to go to bed just to find that I forgot to make it after stripping it to do the laundry. 11 or 12 at night is not the time to have to make the bed to crawl into it! I have an adjustable bed ( two extra long adjustable singles side by side in a california king sleigh bed frame) since I only use the one bed, and have separate sheets top and fitted I only have to change one side, but that is very difficult to put the sheets on, especially on the side that is in the middle, and I have to use sheet straps to secure the sheets so they won't come off when adusting the the bed in different positions! Allot of times I burrow under the mattress ( between the mattress and the bottom spring and movement assembly, to get at the inside edge to pull the fitted sheet in place and secure the sheet straps. I keep telling my self there has to be a better way, than having the matress pressing down on your head and back as you try and feel for the edge of the sheet! Not to mention that it darn near kills me to do it! Any all suggestions would be appreciated!


I try not to have to much clutter in the bedroom but that doesn't always work, but I do try to keep it neat!. I never know when the realtor is going to call wanting to show someone the house, so I try and have it pretty neat and clean most of the time. And yes I usually always make my bed right after I get up! The military instilled that into me, as I was single living in a barracks for nearly 6 years before I ever got married. and you always had to have your room in inspection order! Even if you were an old timer!

Chutz, I do the bed by myself, the last time I had the other one in there, it was like him trying to help me snap my bra when I broke my arm, lol. Remeber he had my bra up around my neck, once over my eyes like goggles. That man has never seen me wear a bra like that, ever.

I make sure I buy the deep pocket sheets and this has eliminated the pushing, tugging and pulling for me. Anyone else???

I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions for making the bed, but straydog that was pretty funny.  I can imagine you and your hubby with the bra.  Funny stuff.  Had to chuckle.

Now, Stray! ....that here was funny! Cathy, I could live with you as I'm the same. It irks me to death to see someone not put back something they brought out. open a kitchen cu bard door....please shut it! That"s it!
