It is great to find a forum for people with chronic pain.

My problem  is slightly different then many people on here and would love to hear from anyone with similar problem.

I have had chronic ear pain for 6 years now and despite many tests,scans and different consultants and operations the docs can not find out what the cause is.

I sometimes feel like I am going out of my mind with the pain and so even though the cause of the pain is different it is still nice to hear  frompeople ina similar situation coping with pain on a daily basis.

Look forward togetting to know people and being part of the forum.

Hi Todd and welcome!

I was just reading your reply to another post and got so tickled about "living out in the sticks" and the difficulty with not driving ~ I can SO relate to you! Then you mentioned the terrible hot, cold flashes you had with fentanyl.....I have them daily! Just praying for another solution.

So many of us can relate to your "going out of my mind with pain". It is comforting to find others who can relate to you. I am new here as well, but I can tell you everyone is very kind, understanding, upfront and honest with you about their experiences/opinions/etc. A group of great folks, IMHO.

Ear pain is rough! Is your PM controlling your pain as best as possible? Please keep us posted when you have time and I look forward to learning more about you ~

Hi, Todd,
I also want to welcome you to the chronic pain forum of Healing Well. We have members with eye pain and headache pain, along with many of us with pain relating to the spine and so many other areas! But chronic pain is chronic pain and robs us of so much it's great to find others who understand. So glad you found us!

You might want to read through the CP101 thread at the top of the page and read through the forum rules. And as you can see from another thread, there's a Chat tonight at 9pm EST.

Welcome to the Chronic Pain Forum Everybody here has a different story about how pain has impacted our lives.  Unfortunately, unless you suffer from chronic pain many of these stories go unheard.  I think you will find a great resource here at HW.  We understand - we listen and support oneanother.  It is a great place to vent when you need to and support ours in their times of need. Welcome to our family.

Welcome to HW! I'm glad that you were able to find us! This is a fantastic site for support and friendship.
My pain is a little "different" than most of the other members as well. Palady mentioned it - I'm the one with chronic eye pain. I have eye and facial pain from a traumatic injury that I had over 3 years ago. I don't have a diagnosis either. I have a whole bunch of rare conditions in my eye & things keep getting worse yet the docs still have no idea what is going on. It's really frustrating, I know!

Stick with HW & I'm sure you'll discover what a fantastic site this is! Just FYI, we have live chats every Thursday night at 9pm est in the chat room. Directions about how to get there can be found in the thread about chat night.

Hi Todd,
Welcome to HW Chronic Pain. I don't have pain in my ears but have tinitis constantly. It never ever goes away, just a constant ringing drives me crazier than I already am and that's pretty dang crazy!! Sorry you hurt though-- the ringing is one thing but hurting is a whole different deal...

I too want to welcome you to Healing Welll's chronic pain forum. I think you can tell by the responses you have received this is really a warm caring group of people. We just try to keep each other going the best we can. We exchange ideas and thoughts and hope that one thing we offer up may help the next person. Just having a place to come to and talk about what is going on in the pain dept. is a big relief.  It goes both ways some us discuss it with our families and then some of us choose not to for various reasons. Understand you are not alone in this boat there is a whole bunch of us right next to you. We do ask our new members to read the forum rules and abide by yhem. We also have a topic called CP101 that you may want to read. It is full of all kinds of information that is very helpful.

 

You have sure had some long grueling years to put up with your pain. To still not have an answer is enough to drive a person crazy. Not knowing to me is the worst part. I went many years not knowing why I had neck and back pain and truly thought I was a hypochondriac and that it was all in my mind. It was not until many years later when I had MRI's done and found out what as wrong that I believed I had something going on, then for a while I still doubted it. In all honesty I don't know how you have tolerated ear pain. That is one pain that I do not handle well at all. I still get ear infections at my age of 56 and I still have been know to cry when they get real bad.

I do hope you will post and keep us updated on how things are progressing for you. I am glad you found us and feel sure you will contribute a lot to the forum.

Oh my goodness Todd, ear pain! I am so sorry and would love to take that bugger out of the world forever! I so hope you are on some kind of pain reliever. I have never had constant ear pain, but I remember as a very young child, my mother would rock me with one ear against her chest and her hand over my other ear trying to keep the air from hitting the eardrum. On the times in school, wayyyy back when the teachers smoked *gasp* in the teaches lounge, Mrs. Perry would blow cigarette smoke into my ears and then put cotton in them until Moma could come get me and start the rocking. I'm 51 years old and still have chronic ear infections in my right ear. I also have an 11 year old daughter who was born with a deformed right ear with no canal (the story of a "birth mother" doing drugs during pregnancy) and for the first 6 months of her life all ear infections in the left ear were unchecked to the point that when we got her, she was completely deaf. She too had awful ear pain. So, yes I am aware of the horror of short term ear pain. The thought that you have been doing this for 6 years is unfathomable to me. I am so very, very sorry for your pain! But I believe you have come to the right place to have a place where people may not know the ear pain you have, but understand pain. Have you been checked for a cholesteatoma? That's probaby a stupid question, but I am quite familiar with that and it's destruction. Keep us posted and take care.

Welcome , todd1074 ,I'm glad you found the HealingWell family ,if you were looking for a site that has quality people who empathsize with each other and share the good and the bad ,you've come to the right site .Pain is pain and when you feel it all you want is for it to go away , that isn't always possible and thats where it gets tough .One of the sources of my pain remains undiagnosed so I understand your frustration.A pain therapist may be able to help you. Please take care of yourself and check in here often .

Welcome. Ear pain--ugh...What have they tried for it? I've never heard of chronic ear pain, but I had an earache not to long ago, and it was terrible!

       I am sorry you have endured through ear painf or so long. I remember at one point my ears hurt, but not 2yrs later I have 2 tones constant "ringing" and hearing loss. All of which are still being investigated, so unfortunatly I am of no help. Sorry.

 

         I do want to welcome you thou! And I look forward to getting to know you better as time goes by.
