Just wanted to wish you good luck on Monday. I will be thinking about
you. The biggest advice that I can give you is to make sure that you have everything ready for when you return home. I could not wait to get into my bed with "soft sheets".
Second piece of advice is to make sure that you press your morphine button as often as you can. Make sue that you keep ahead of your pain.
I am actually feeling very good today. I has been two weeks now. There are allot of days that I don't remember. I really think that if I did not have the set back with infection and blood clot that I would really be feeling great.
They will get you out of bed on the second day, make sure that you are very careful. Physical therapy will have to clear you to go home, they will not only check to make sure you are physically able to go home, but they want to know who will be at home to help you. You will not be able to do anything for yourself for a while. Did you get a chair for the shower? It worked great for me.
Make sure that you have your meals planned. You probably won't eat much in the hospital. But make sure you drink plenty of water. I drank ensure to keep my energy level up.
One thing my doctor told me before I left the hospital, is to eat plenty of protein. It help with bone growth. I did not know this. So if your not up to eating get the ensure with extra protein. They are very good.
Good luck and please check in when you can.
