Dear Jag , Thanks so much for caring my friend and checking on me , you've made my day with your caring and concern .Yes pretty much statue quo , I'm really hoping to get my hip replacement this month , I've found the right surgeon and he's willing its just a matter of insurance which I'm straightening out now .Please keep your fingers crossed for me my friend How are you feeling my friend ? I truly hope your ok and doing well , and thanks again Jag you are a special human being !

I do hope you are able to arrange the hip replacement soon. From what I've heard and seen it can really make a huge difference in pain levels after the replacement. My father had his one hip done many years ago with great results. I hope you have a good support system available to you for after the surgery.

Dear Mik99 Best of luck with the hip replacement. I hope you do not have too much trouble getting the insurance portion taken care of.   Want do the doctors say about the possibility of this unknown ailment affecting your new hip. Just curious if ailment "X" harmed both hips or only one?  Do you have to worry is "X" will harm the boney area around your new hip joint? My friend had a total hip replacement  round Thanksgiving and within 3 months was able to play golf again.  He says the new hip was easy surgery and with good PT afterwards he was back in the saddle in no time. Will you be able to come directly home after your hip replacement or do you need to go to some type of post surgical care facility (step down or skilled nursing) for a week or two to begin immediate rehab? My friend had great results at a facility that offers intensive PT rehab for post operative patients. My friend was an engineer and did a lot of research prior to his surgery. I remember one major concern of his was the use of surgical glue in the new joint. I guess there are two techniques used in  hip replacement surgeries, one where surgical glue is used to secure the implanted joint to the bone and the other where the impacted joint is screwed into place without the use of glue or epoxy.  In his research, he concluded that the use of surgical glue potentially damaged the bone and bone marrow. It seems that this type of glue, though used internally, does have some toxic affect on tissue and healing. The other issue was that hip surgeries tend to have to be replaced every 10 - 15 years and if glue is used, they need to remove all the glue and surrounding bone and tissue that touched the glue  - thus enlarging the hip area and removing extra bone  before the new one can be refitted. With the screw only surgery, all that is necessary is to remove and replace the joint and screw. Everything is so complicated.  Please keep us posted.

Well, I haven't been here in a while and apparently you have been M.I.A. as well!! I hope all is well for you and I keep you in my thoughts always. I'd love to have a middle of the night chat! That's great news about the pain therapist. And I agree it's often better to pay even a small fee in those situations; it gives some balance to the relationship.
