Laproscopic gas pain bites.

Peppermint tea works wonders on that type of gas pain. I had exploratory laprscopic a few years ago and somebody here on HW suggested peppermint tea. It worked great. I started getting the pain in my shoulder and drank peppermint tea and the pain subsided. Mine lasted for about 2 days.

I know that feeling only too well so my heart goes out to you....I hope this pain subsides soon for you and that you start feeling better soon!

    Oh that is the worst! Gas and intibation "irritation" are the worst. I never tried teas, but about 3 days later it started to ease up. Both, the pain and irritation from tube and pressure from gas.

My mother had a laproscopic hysterectomy done earlier in the year. I remember her having gas pains for at least several days after the surgery. I hope your pains resolve quickly! Feel better!

I hate those gas pains! They are so darn miserable.

Try "pushing" at where the gas pain is with the heel of your hand and basically walk it out of the spot it is stuck in. Peppermint tea helps but if you have any GERD issues it can make that worse since it loosens smooth muscle tissue. If you are up to it go to your local hippy store and get a tummy tea with fennel or catnip in it. Those are both great for gas pains and do not make heartburn worse.

Another trick I learned after my many many laps is to lie down on the floor and put a pillow under where it hurts. It may be REALLY painful at first but it will help move the bubble.

I know where you're coming from as a fellow fibro, gerd, scoliosis, and disks sufferer, + post-polio. I had surgery for a paraesophageal hernia last fall and have had trouble with gas since then.

Keep off gassy foods for a while - broccoli, beans, cheese, milk, anything with sugar, bread, eggs, most starches.
Non-gassy foods: rice, summer squashes, carrots, greens rew and cooked.

As a GERD patient you may also have food intolerances, aka allergies, which "trigger" reflux. If so you'll want to keep a food journal and identify the culprits. Be specific. It's not just a hamburger, it's a bun, meat, mustard, ketchup, pickle. I've posted often in the reflux/gerd forum how to do the food challenge test.

I can eat the meat just fine. It's the rest of the burger that contains the sulfite that is my trigger. Lots of meds have it too, so I keep lists in my purse and was glad to have them along when I got hit by a girl running a red light last year.

Ok Catz4 I will bite What is soda water and Bitters! I'm not much of a drinker, so I don't know what Bitters is :) Sorry, but I'm still a little wet behind the ears, even at 54yrs of age :)

Also Kimber I have to agree with Alice on the Rice and Carrots, as they will not cause gas. I think I listed this to you before on another post.

I have been following this thread, because I also have gas, but I don't think it is from the surgery! :)
