Chartreux Pulmonary doctor visit?

Hello Chartreux! I just saw where you posted about your Dr appointment tomorrow. We all hope that the news is good, as we know that you have been fighting this for quite some time now. Take care my friend, and do please let us know how it turns out.

You are one of the members that checked on me several times during my recovery time at the Hospital. I will always be grateful for that.

I'm sorry your rib is still broken... :( I "think" it can take awhile for it to heal...but I guess that's not the news you wanted to hear, huh?? I'm sorry :(

So sorry to hear about your rib! Yes, like every other bone in my body (it seems) I have broken ribs more than once. Once while out on a boat closer to the Bahamas than Fla. I fell when the drunk driving the boat thought he was on Miami Vice and went over a about a 6' wave way to fast. I lost my grip and went up, the boat went down in the valley between the two waves and I came down and the boat came up and hit my right side (chest) on the step from the cockpit to the rear deck> OUCH! four ribs broken in front and the same four broken in back! Going home was the longest boat ride of my life! Every wave we went over was agony. Everytime I took a breath, I could feel them grinding and crunching together! I didn't think they would ever heal because they were constantly moving against one another! Like a slab of babybacks! Anyway, from taking small breaths way too often, I ended up w/ pnumonia and in the hospital on some breathing machine> it was awful. The ribs finally healed in 7 months. The good news is once I broke one rib and it healed if I remember corectly in about 6 ~ 8 weeks! It was not nearly as bad after the first month pain wise. So hang in there, you WILL get better and when you do you will feel like your on top of the world after what you've been through!!!

Good Morning Chartreux! A broken rib is not fun at all! Maybe the support belt will give you some relief, when you have to strain in getting up out of a chair or something. You sound like me, in that I felt like I was seeing a Dr. every other day or so.
Let me know how the PM visit goes today. I too am glad to see Fatherjohn back, and hope he will bring Pete back with him. Both are wonderful writers here on the forums!

I know it may be annoying, but I remember decades ago when I cracked a couple of ribs wearing a velcro support really helped me feel better - even when I would breath, but especially if I had to sneeze or cough! We forget all those muscles inside there tied to those ribs! So it might be worth a try, and may give you a bit of relief while the rib is healing. They do take a long time, and there's not much more that can be done for them.
