Hello Chronic Pain Friends

I just wanted to check in with the folks who've had so much to do with improving my outlook .When I first came here I was in a very bad way , this was about 3 months ago and I was seriously suicidal and in a LOT of pain . The suggestions I got here and more than that the unwavering support and caring has with the help of my family enabled me to change for the better in dramatic fashion .I eat totally healthy now and see a pain therapist once a week .I was prescribed 6 oxicpntin a day 80mg each , plus 8 percocet a day for pain .In the 6 or so weeks since I've been leading a healthy lifestyle I've taken between 6-8 oxicontin and perhaps 6 percocet , thats in 6 weeks . My hip still hurts in certain positions and on rainy days it can be tough but its just a challenge to be met , like anything else in life . I'm getting my drivers liscense again , new furniture in the house and I'm taking meditation classes as well as completing a course for asst. vet . thru Penn Foster online I had given up on ! Its been a great awakening . I"m glad you have seen such great improvement in your health. I continue to pray that you will be able to have your hip replacement done soon - just one more step on your road to complete healing. Stay strong, take care of yourself and know that we're all still rooting you on.

Hi I am glad you are doing well, that only thing that I am worried about is that you are on a lot of opiods which in the long run might not be very helpful.  I have been off morphine for about a month, which sucked but, I would have not been in that position if I had not started like you.  I was taking high doses of percocet, and the on Oxycontin.  I then went through Ms contin and ended up on Fentynol.  Which took a long time to get off.  I was then taking Oxycontin for a while and the to Ms contin which then I tried Kadian.  Which was great until new legislations in canada which forced me off the Kadian.  Now that it has been a month later my doctor said I can go back on to Percocet.  So, basically what I am saying is that it could be a long road of withdrawl over and over once you start.  But that is my opinion.  I also agree that it is easier to work with the medication but now I am unable to work, so the system is not perfect.  Anyways hope you have more pain free days then painfull ones.

Hi Mikel   I'm so proud of the progress that you've made.  You're a wonderful friend.    I do agree we do have a wonderful family here.  Congratulations.

Hey Mikel, I am so happy to hear how well you are doing! You are truly an inspiration. When I first joined this site I went through and read alot of old posts, yours was one of the stories I follwed and you have come a long way baby! lol You are also one of the most supportive people on here. I think that it is awesome that no matter how bad you feel or how crummy your day might be going you still come here and support us, it means alot! Its is always wonderful to read a post such as yours. Your post is great encouragement for others who think they are at the end of the line with CP and cannot go any further. It is easy to get stuck in a rut and have great difficulty pulling out of it. You just keep up the good work, it obviously agrees with you very well. I know someone posted about the opiods, but please give that post no thought (however well it was intended), many of us take strong medications in order to have a life and that is so much more important than than what pain medication you are taking to have a life. My PM dr is pro having a life and being active while taking pain medication. She says whatever it takes for a patient to be up and going and having quality life. It is another tool we use to battle CP. So what if you need an adjustment or if your medications need to be changed up, thats part of life whether its pain meds or BP meds.

 

I do remember how down you were when you came to the forum and I am very happy and excited to see you having quality life. Woohoo!!!! Please keep posting so others will see it is possible with CP.
