Pete
You know some people do get approved right away, but those are really far and few between, and usually they have really cut and dried cases! And anymore it is even harder to get approved, they will try and say that you can do this, or you can do that. Heck the rep, at my last court hearing with the Judge, actually said that I could be a used car salesman! I kid you not, the Judge had me walk around the room a couple of times, (now mind you, I walk bent way over and leaning to the right with a cane, I can not stand up straight, and my legs drag a little,) anyway, The Judge then asked the individual that said I could sell used cars, if he would buy a car from me?? Everyone in the room all kind of laughed and then the judge said I don't think I would! He then asked me a few more questions and he wanted another medical test done and then he said he would make his determination, after he got the test results, well it was close to 6 months after that hearing before I was notified of the decision that I was approved. Now granted it was back dated, but, it took a very very very long time to get through it all, two court hearings, it was a couple of years, and medically I had a excellent case, but my age at the time and all the schooling and training that I had had while serving those 20 plus years in the military, all worked against me in getting SSD. Surely there was something I could do??? Some kind of job I could work at? That is how SS looks at it. You know they don't look at it like we do, (and why should they? , they are the ones giving out the money, and they do not want to give it out needlessly) but you and I,........well we look at it differently,.... we are the ones that are hurting, and can not do the work,.... but like most other healthy people they cannot feel the pain we have,..... they do not see the struggles that we go through just to try and have a normal life!. ...It is frustrating!.... Very very frustrating! But there is a saying,.... that nothing in life, that is worth while , is easily obtained !!!! I think that is usually true ! Don't you? I know if I could have my druthers, I would rather have my old life back and be working! I would definitely be making allot more money than what SSD gives me! and I really do miss Nursing!! Taking care of patients! I miss that!!! Anyway Pete,. Just hang in there and keep plugging away, and let your lawyer do the work, you know Straydog is right on, with what she said in her post!
Good Luck to You Pete!
