Back from Rheumy!

Well, my Creatine Kinase total was 22 and considered low
and my B-12's were low and I got a steroid shot and a B-12 shot both
in the backside...now, how the heck am I to try to give these things to myself if they
be puttin them in my backside....I think I could do the b-12's if the could show me how to in the arm...
so, I'm sitting on an ice pack for now...sure hope I'll be feeling better soon...

anyways what does it mean to have low Creatine Kinase???
and still waiting to hear back on a few other blood tests, but those are for B-6 ect...

and how the heck do they expect me not to be witchy(with a "B") with all those steroids they keep giving me...
any clues on how to handle attitudes when your on steroids??? my hubby is close to wanting

You probably can't give it in your own arm, but a lot of shots can be given to yourself in the thigh. When my hubby is not around to give me my allergy shots in the arm I just do it myself. I only needed a really tiny, short needle, like one for insulin, but ask for the smallest one they make. Just grab and pinch a little skin and you won't even feel it! It hurts less in thigh than in arm.

One thing is to make sure it's OK to give it sub Cu (below the skin) instead of IM (intramuscular) because you probably won't hit any muscle with the pinch method.

I get B12, but it's only once a month. That one's OK under skin but is usually given in muscle.

Hopefully you have a little meat on your bones and like straydog said you can do the shots in most spots where you can get a hold of some muscle. For me, the thighs would be no problem! They usually teach you how to do injections; if not, ask for an instructional session from one of the nurses. They sometimes have people practice on an orange, but once you get the feel of it you'll be able to do them for yourself.

As for the blood work, best to talk with your doctor about that. I've not been on steroids so others will have to speak to that.

Char are you sure its side effects from the shots??? I have had tons of each of these meds and have never had a reaction like you are describing. I would look each of these med up online and see what it says about them. Get to feeling better.

Sorry you are having such a rough time on your meds. I hope these side effects at least can subside away a bit.

For the nausea, what has helped me is to wear sea bands on your wrists. These worked wonders for me and they are not that expensive either.

Also a good anti emetic is zofran. It is better than Gravol.
