I finally got a handle on my pain and I am managing it with Celebrex, Tylonel Arthritis and weekly visits to the chiropractor.  I have Ulcerative Colitis, arthritis, sacroiilitis and scoliosis.  Everything was going good!  I mean really good!  Then I started flaring with my Uc so of course I had to stop taking Celebrex because it makes my large intestine bleed more than normal while in a flare.  Now I can hardly move!  The arthritis pain in my hands are back especially my left index finger (boy does it hurt!), my SI joint makes me feel like an old lady at 40 and my upper back feels like someone has me in a pretzel.

I feel like I just can't win anymore!  I am getting so fed up with all this...I take something that makes my whole body feel better but yet it causes me problems when I flare with Uc.  I don't take the med that interfers with my Uc and my whole body rebels gggrrrr.

Sorry just had to vent  mad

Sherry please don't apologize for needing to vent, we all have to vent from time to time...
Can a warm moist heating pad or ice pack help with the pain, have you tried mediation or relaxation tech...
Hopefully this UC spell will clear up for you soon so you can start taking the celebrex again...
can you use icey/hot packs or aspercream...sometimes a cream can help...

Hi Sherry,

I can sure empathize with you...it seems like you just can't win when you deal with chronic pain. You try the "cure" and then end up aggravating something else, and feeling worse than when you started. I just had an increase in one of my meds and I'm dealing with the side effects today...the major one being nausea.

I hope you're able to get over this flare quickly and back into the routine that was working for you. Feel better soon!

Oh, how I understand. I took celebrex a couple of years ago and like you I found it helped so much of my overall body pain but then my BP started increasing significantly so I had to stop. BP is back in a nice normal range, but no more celebrex.

I hope your UC flare calms soon so you can resume. Sadly it's such a nice drug but has so many side effects (well, I guess they all do!).

(((((((((Red)))))))))))). I've always been sensitive to NSAIDs, but I can't even begin to imagine how rough it must be for you with UC! It's so unfair that the medications you need to control your pain can end up causing you even more problems!

Hopefully this flare passes soon, so that you can get back to feeling better! My thoughts & prayers are with you!

I couldn't take it anymore. My hands were starting to turn into painful claws because I stopped taking Celebrex. I could barely do anything so I started back on Celebrex. Already I can feel this drug doing it's magic. My hands are functioning again and the pain is receding in my back and hips. So far so good with my UC so maybe the few day reprieve allowed my colon to heal a bit. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Sorry you're having such a bad time of things. I can definitely relate right now. :(

Have you ever tried Voltaren gel? It's worked quite well for me (its a topical NSAID). The reps have been making the rounds with plenty of samples (at least in my area & the surrounding states) so maybe you could get a sample.

I have problems with NSAID's for a different reason. The topical stuff is not ideal -- it does still cause some problems -- but it does seem to not bring on as bad of side effects as oral NSAID's. Just a thought. If you've already tried it, I'm so sorry. I really feel for you.

Hey Red , I know just how you feel , you solve one pboblem and up comes another , or a complication to make it difficult , its so darn frustrating . I'm dealing with it too , please just hang in and try to stay positive , I know its hard beleive me but we're all supporting you and we all care .I'm in the same boat , but hang on Red tomorrow will be a brighter day . Frances, yes I tried Voltaren gel. And unfortunately, it doesn't even begin to touch the pain and swelling in my hands/fingers :( But thank you for the suggestion.

Brighter days Mikel? It's supposed to rain tomorrow! lol Just kidding....thank you! :)
