Today I went to the lab to get blood drawn.  Apparantly the chemo has made my white count very very low and now they say I am very prone to infection.  No digging in the garden, eating raw veggies or cleaning up after my dogs.  Good handwashing and often.  Any slight fever to report immediately , also sore throat etc.  I am feeling extremely tired too.  I keep falling asleep.

Oh and today my hair started coming out in clumps.  I washed it today and threw away a handful.  But on the bright side, I have a wig and several scarves that my daughters have bought me.  I want my daughter to cut my hair short now, so I don't have to deal with long strands, but she is not sure if she is coming down with a cold.  So, we postponed it for tonight at least.  I don't want to catch a cold.  I have to be careful around the grandchildren too. 

I went to the surgeon today to discuss the placement of my port.  That will be done next Monday and Tuesday I get my next chemo infusion.  Please continue to pray for me.  I need your prayers, you wonderful people.  I am blessed to have you all in my life and I love each and every one of you, truly!!!

I'll keep you all updated as I go along.  Thanks for the interest.

My dear friend, thank you for the update. You have been & will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers each and every day. Hearing you describe the loss of your hair brought tears to my eyes. I can only imagine how you must feel. You are such a strong, caring lady. Anyone who tells you that this journey will be easy is lying, but yet I know that no matter how tough it is, you're never going to give up. You can do this! You have a great attitude and such determination. We're all here for you & cheering you on.

I'm not sure but I think the low WBC count is expected. I do know that a weakened immune system is part of it, so I hope you are careful. I know you want to be, but I know it's got to be hard sometimes. My cousin stayed away from crowds, let her husband go to the store, etc.

BTW, we celebrated the end of her chemo along with her birthday on Sunday. Her hair is still pretty thin (well, almost non-existent) but she's become comfortable with going around with us family without her wig or scarf or anything. It's sometimes too hot for all of that! She's in such great spirits, and I continue to admire her. She'll start radiation soon, but I know she'll tackle that the same way she did the chemo - and the same way you are meeting the challenges you're facing!

You are a strong and courageous woman! We're all cheering you on!

Lindaloo, again as you describe the battle that you are in, your strength and courage show. I conducted a funeral last week for a 95 year old man. I spent this morning in the ICU un it with his 93 year old wife. She amazed me at the strength she had as she face the challenges in her life. When I see such displays of strength it makes me look at the journey I am in and realize God has so much more than I see now. I continue to pray for you and that the Lord will bless you abundantly.

My heart goes out to you my dear friend. I continue to pray for you in this journey that you are on. It will make you stronger in the end. I know it. You are one courageous woman. Never forget that. And remember that when the days are too tough to get thru, God is carrying you. He is always with you hon!!!
You are a beautiful person, hair or no hair, I love your strength that you have!!

Hi Lindaloo

Thanks for the update! Neutrapenia is a constant worry with receiving chemo, so be careful !!! Watch not only who your around, but what you touch and handle, if need be get one of those mask the go over your mouth and nose, it might help a little. Oh and be extremely carefull when brushing your teeth! Mouth sores and thrush is very common when having chemo. so gentle, but thorough mouth hygiene is a must! Getting your hair cut short is a great idea, it will probably all come out anyway, and don't be surprised if when it grows back in that it is different from your previous hair, your new hair could have a different texture and if it is curly it could be straight or vice-versa, or even a different color, none of this is not unheard of after having chemo.

Great minds think alike, I had my son in law buy my some masks today I have to go to the hospital preadmit tomorrow and thought I need a mask for pete's sake. Thanks for the reminders about everything WB. You make me feel special.

You all make me feel special by writing to me and praying for me. I feel so blessed and I am truly grateful to all of you. Please know that as it is the truth and I pray for all of you too.
