A funny thing happened to me on the way to pick up a pizza!

The other day I ran into my daughter and granddaughters at an Italian Restaurant. They were there with my dtr's girfriend and her daughters as well, Kelly's friends. Kelly is six years old.

Well, this was shortly after I had lost all my hair from the chemo and I was wearing a scarf. As I approached the table to say hello, Kelly hopped off the seat and yelled at the top of her lungs to her little friend while pointing at my head, "My Grandma is bald! My Grandma is bald, Just ask her, she is bald!" Well of course everyone turned around and I slowly sank into the floor. LOL. I simply said to Kelly, keep your voice down honey.

That was a humbling experience, but shows the innocence of children!

Hey Linda,

Looks like you're the coolest grandmama on the block to me.  This shows the love of a child who thinks you are so wonderful that you are too cool and the first to "start the trend".  It's actually very sweet, although I imagine it took a few minutes for you to feel the love.

Don't let it bug ya Linda , yes the honesty of kids ! Its unusual for her to see you this way but she still loves you dearly and is obviously thinking of you a lot ! Your on her mind , in a way its very , very sweet , just the innocence of it , the purity . Your a strong woman and great grandma ! Keep the faith , Hugs Mikel

It's all new to her and she certainly doesn't understand what is happening with you.
Children are so innocent>>she is young.

You are my hero Linda, a beautiful, brave and courageous woman.

      Good morning Lindaloo! What a cute story, and yes the innocence of children at that age is something to behold.

I always enjoy our conversations together, and your friendship is clearly genuine. There are so many members willing to travel down this road with you. Hurry up and get well soon please! :)

Aww Lindaloo...like they say "out of the mouths of babes" Like everyone else said, it's obvious how much she loves you and is so completely comfortable with her Grandma to be able to say that. Hope you are feeling good today and please keep us posted, we are all here fighting with you! Take care.

Miss Linda, It's good to hear that you are gouing about your biz going out to p/u a pie!! How sweet that Kelly wanted to "show you off" to her friends! Of course she couldn't know that it would be imbarrasing for you, she just probably thought it was cool and different!

Thanks for all your responses, guys. She sure is a sweetie, my Kelly. She is my whole world, that kid and her sister, Anna who will be 2 in November.

I'm late to the party but there's not much more I can say than what's been said. Kind of shows how much we get attached to certain things as adults - and your little Kelly probably thinks it's a very cool "show and tell" item for her friends. I'm glad you were able to bounce back and not let it get you down.

BTW I just got off the phone with my cousin who has been so busy running around (in between daily radiation treatments, M-F) she's hardly had time to call me. Yesterday she went to a festival with relatives who live about an hour away. Today she went to a 90th birthday party for a friend, and tonight is babysitting for her two grandchildren (the oldest, who will be 9 in a couple of weeks, is named Anna!). I can't keep up with her! And you remind me so much of her, with the same spirit and courage. You're gonna do just great!

Thats so cute and imbarrassing just as well. It remids me of that show that the Cosby used to host. Kids so the darndest things. hang in there and have a good day. Heather

   Bless her little heart! I hope you were able to get in a nice lunch with your granddaughter. My daughters have a habbit of saying the darndest things too. Gosh I love children *sigh*  I know you have ahd a hard time. I admire your strength alot. How many weeks of chemo are left? I hope more than anything you are back on your feet in time to enjoy the holidays. You are always in our hearts & in our prayers.
