Body gone into shock

Hey everyone,
hope your all doing okay!!
Just thought i would let you all know whats happening with me and see if anyone else has had this happen?..

Over the last 10 days my abdominal pain which we don't know what the cause is yet, still having testing and on an MRI the other day it showed i have bleeding in there but they dont know if thats the initial cause or thats caused by whatever else is happening! anyway, basically i have been bedridden with so much pain and nausea from it and haven't slept properly in over a week because of it, i am exhausted and just feel pain everywhere from it all, last night i went to take my pain medications and i just started gagging on water and everything i tried to take in, because i can't last the night without blacking out if i dont take my meds i had to go to the ER to see what they could do, we had to wait a few hours before seeing a doctor because there was a strike,, once we saw one she was very rude and didn't really care, she said i had inflammation in my oesophagus from reflux which i have had before and has caused me to regurgitate and vomit up any food or drink i had, but this was differnt and it was just as soon as i tried to swallow i would gag, she thought it was psychological and told me to drink stuff that would numb my throat, i couldn't get it down and it just made me more frustrated and everything harder with her standing there saying, you have to actually try and you have to get it down! she was so rude and just telling me i was faking it pretty much, i was trying so hard and eventually got a small amount down, just enough so it numbed it for me to take some pain meds. i then went home and now i'm having that problem again and i'm really dehydrated, and can gargle stuff to numb my throat to get pain meds in but i can't get enough water down to hydrate me. last time i was admitted to hospital to get fluids until i was well enough and the inflammation went down so it wouldnt put more stress on my oesophagus, as much as i hate being in hospital i really wish they would just admit me so i can me on a drip with fluids, because this is causing me so much pain and frustratino swallowing and i can just feel it getting worse each time i swallow tablets, i'm trying so hard to get things down but it causes so so much pain and i don't want to make things much worse...

does anyone have any ideas as to what i could do?! if i go to hospital again they will say the same thing and send me home and il be stuck like this again...

So sorry you are going though this! How awful to be treated that way. How are your parents at advocating for you? If you become dehydrated enough, they will admit you to the hospital to fix it. Can your parents call your personal doctor and update them on what is happening and that it is urgent? I know it is no fun to be in the hospital, but sometimes it is the best place to be. So sorry you are dealing with this at such a young age, and hoping that you find an answer soon! Hang in there, and let us know what happens.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time & that the doctor in the ER didn't take you seriously. I don't know about in England, but here in the US, most doctors have someone "on-call" for emergencies during weekends and evenings, when the doctors are out of the office. That way, if you have a problem, you can call your doctor's office & reach the answering service & have the on-call doctor paged. The doctor will then call you back & give you advice over the phone.

My father is a general practitioner & when he is on-call, he sometimes meets patients that need to be admitted to the hospital over at the emergency room (after having talked to them on the phone & telling them that they need to go the the ER/be admitted). Perhaps there is someone on-call for you doctor & if they feel that you need to be admitted, they can do something similar, thus allowing you to by-pass the doctors in the ER.

However, if you aren't doing well, please don't hesitate to go back to the ER. Don't let that one nasty doctor bother you. It's not worth risking your health. If you get the same doctor, you can always request a different one.

Oh Buttercup,

I am so sorry that you are having so many problems.  I know absolutely nothing about your medical system, but surely they have to take an oath to do no harm.  You have to stay hydrated!  Is there anything that you can get down?  Jello perhaps?  Even ice chips melting in your mouth slowly may work to help some if you can get them down.

Is there another hospital or walk in clinic that you can go to?  Also, I wonder if you have ever been checked for nutcracker esophogus? (sp?).  I have this and it's like the "tube" the food/water goes down just clamps down and nothing moves through.  Stress can make it MUCH worse for me.  Anti-anxiety meds help for me, but I'm not advocating that you should take anything you have not been directly prescribed.  I'm past the point in my life where I care what anyone thinks about my medical problems, so I would go again and again until I found someone who would be willing to help.....just make sure to wait until they change shifts and you don't get the same one.  They are numbing your throat, but relaxing it may be a better suggestion.

Please don't give up.  Surely there is someone who can help!
