Hang in there. My lami was in my neck, but I think they're always rough. Try to be as active as your surgeon said was safe & do what you can to keep your mind off the pain.

Art, music & creative things are good, as are challenging problems -- puzzles, math problems, translation/interpretations work, etc.

Hang in there. For me, it started healing at week 2 (course the scar tissue grew around my occipital nerve, but that's a different story). You can also ask at what point it would be safe to try some light PT (passive PT) or massage (needs to be with osteopath or very, very conservative chiro -- avoid the "medical massage" places altogether & probably avoid the salon as well).

Usually the first week is really the bad one and by week two it starts improving,. I am assuming you do have some pain medication on hand to take. You should take your meds as prescribed by the dr. Most drs tell patients to walk and that is the best form of exercise you can do that is safe. It will help build your strength back up and stamina. It is best to start with small walks and build up from there. The others have also given you some tips that are very good.
