Dear Francess,
I have a terrible time cleaning as well. I had to re-do my household so that it would be easier to manage despite being in constant pain with movement restrictions.
The easiest way for me to manage cooking for long periods of time was by having large stools cut down to "hip-height" so I can sit comfortably while cooking or washing. I also have my large kitchen island put up high on heavy duty wheels. I made a small "kitchenette nook" from second hand furniture and thick decorative cushions (perfect for resting). When it comes to the cookware I have it all up on shelves. I just can't keep bending down to get it. So all my cookware - griddle, stock pots, pressure cookers .. all on shelves, with a couple of accents to make it look like "county living" style. Buy zip lock containers that are perfect for single meals and containers can be thrown away. When you make big meals perhaps try separating each meal in "throw away" containers so that you can eat and toss. I use old "colored" sheets and window scarves for table cloths for everyday use. All I have to do is scoop it up and toss in the washer.
Chores around the house are hard. I go room by room with my "general clean" bucket and light weight rubbermaid "high step stool". It is super light and made of plastic so it is easy to carry. I plop my stool down and pick up toys, smooth beds, grab trash(tie it to bucket)....all of my supplies are right there in my "general clean" bucket(5gal). That way I can travel room to room without going back and forth. On the floors I use a little swiffer cleaner that just put small pads of adhesive inside. They weigh maybe 1lbs. That way I am only vacuuming every three days.
In the laundry room try having your laundry separated and up in bins on shelf. So you aren't bending down to separate. Try having tall collapsible bins for laundry in room. So you can just drag it with you out of your room. When dusting use a cloth that fits snugly around your hand (old bleachable socks work great). That way you aren't grasping and rubbing in circles. Instead you are just smoothing down with your hands. Try to make sure each room has small trash bins (size of vanity ones for bathrooms). It keeps things light and easy to manage. Using the bags from grocery shopping ensures there are handles. When you do have to vacuumed try to get one of the "light weight" series from eureka. They are cheap, super light, and high powered. I am in love with their "pet cleaner" series.
I have about a thousand things I do to make life easier I wish I had time to type them all out. I think the biggest thing I have to remind myself daily is that some things are okay to leave for later. Like base boards (or just use the apolstry attachment on my vacuum cleaner when I am lazy).
*hugg*
