Hi SS,
Yes, I have tried acupuncture. It worked very well for me after lasting pain from my first (of 3) shoulder surgeries, however I found that it had little effect after the second, and didn't even attempt it after the third. I have also tried acupuncture for my chronic eye pain. I spent a year getting treated 2-3 times per week. It helped somewhat for a few hours after the treatment, but the effects were not great or lasting. The reason that I kept going back was 1) I was unwilling to accept that it wasn't helping enough to continue, and 2) I was in school at the time, and I found that if I went for treatment in the evening, it at the very least helped reduce my pain enough that it made doing my school work a little easier for a few hours after the treatment. In the end, I am glad that I tried it, but I think I probably should have given it up long before I did/wasted a lot of money.
BUT, that all being said, I think that acupuncture is DEFINITELY worth trying. It does wonders for some people, and you may just be one of those people who it helps. It did help me a little. At least give it a try for a month before you make your decision. Sometimes it takes several treatments before you get an effect.
Good luck!
hugs,
Skeye
