Thank you all. He is a gasoline-powered auto mechanic, so hopefully he will find work quickly. In the mean time, there is help out there. Unemployment, and if necessary public assistance. That is what it is for. He just has a hard time thinking about
accepting help that way. Unemployment is one thing, but he would rather work 2 full time jobs in McDonalds than have us go on full assistance. I applaud him for his determination. Things will be fine money wise. We are both wise spenders and savers, and I do have the Mary Kay to help out too.
I just don't know how to help him well. Most of us who have been employed know how this feels. SE, I will show him your post too, and so you know my prayers are with you and all those who have lost their jobs or are in fear of losing them. It is a difficult thiing to go through. I have been laid off before too, and even with leaving my job for the CP issues understand where he is coming from.
The good news is that as a couple, we are relying on each other and it is not tearing things apart, just making the family stronger. I am very lucky to have a man as good as he is. Just wish there were more ways to help him! I just try to provide constant support, to listen, and to help him remember that things happen on God's time, not our own. There is a reason for this, and it will lead to bigger, better things for all of us. He is thinking about going back to school for diesel mechanics, and I have encouraged him to look into that. We live in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, which has what us locals call the Miracle Mile. Within 10 minutes of our home are 13 trucking depots! Perfect! But as we all have times that we struggle with self esteem, it is no different for him as well.
Thank you all for the kindness and support. Paula, Screaming Eagle, and Suzane, thank you for taking the time to post!
