? about l4/l5 s-1 disc buldge on nerve

I did all the consertative care I could and had to cave and get the MRI and was sent to the neuro spinal specialist. I had hernaitaed the same disc 10 years ago and done fine after a disckectomy and hten my husband stopped breathing on the couch I had to move him to do CPR and have done teh same injury. The surgoen both opinions ortho and neuro have suggested a spinal fusion. I tried injections and had a really bad reaction and ended up with a spinal headche that has reoccured even after a blood patch. I go in tuesday for myleogram as they think I have a dura tear and want to locate it prior to surgery as well as be absolutely 100% sure the disc is all that is wrong. Of course I am scared as I know this could cause more of a headache then I already have but understand the neccesity.

I am on dilluid and backoflena nd teh pain has gotton worse after wenesday I stood up and heard a crunching sound it was my right leg before and now both legs are killing me . Has this happened to any of you? What does this mean?

Hi nnmfam and welcome to Healing Well's chronic pain forum. I am glad that you found the forum but very sorry that you have to be here. You really have had a time with that back of yours no doubt. That crunching sound you speak of I am assuming it came from your back and I think the best thing to do is get on the phone Monday morning first thing and call your drs office and speak with his nurse about it. Those folks are the best ones that can answer your questions. They know your history and what all you have been going thru. No one on this forum is a dr so we really could not begin to tell you what it may be. I wish you had called the dr before the weekend rolled around. Are you having pretty severe spasms since this incident? Have you tried any heat and ice on your back? Sometimes that will help with the spasms.

I don't know if you have had a myelogram before or not but now they use a water soluable contrast and people do not get sick off of like back in the old days. Many people have them and have not one problem. One thing to do afterwards is to lay flat as much as you can the rest of the day and do not put a pillow under your head. Drinks lots and lots fluids too. My daughters friend had one and that afternoon she was out shopping!!

I do wish you well with your surgery and know many people that have done very well and have had excellent results. You must keep in mind here at this forum the people that have had surgery, some did not have a good outcome as they expected so their ideas and thoughts may not be what you expect to hear.

I do hope that you will let us know how the myelogram goes and keep us posted on how you are doing. Take care.
