Hi Family!!

Thought I'd jump in and surprise you all who know I've been gone. We're still in a holding pattern with pregnant daughter. She's now at 32 weeks and has been on bed rest for at least the past 5 weeks...or is it 6? ..lol By all of us helping with child care and household things we've been able to keep that baby inside where she belongs! And that's the whole idea. That's why I've been absent from the forum so much. I am pooped by the end of the day and collapse. Hate it when I face plant on the keyboard. Does nothing for my complexion...lol The Doc said when she gets to 37 weeks they will take her off bed rest since that's considered 'term' anyway. She's already had steroid injections to build up baby's lungs so everything that can be done is being done. Now we're just waiting.

I'm hoping to be back online more and more since I miss and need you guys so much! You are my lifeline to some sanity and I appreciate all of you and your contribution to the entire family here.

Pain levels have been over the top but I'm not surprised. We all over do it now and then and pay the price...it's how we live I guess. But on the bright side...we've decided that since our last cat passed away several months ago that it's time to get a new kittie or two. It was hard losing her since she was my son's cat. When he passed away in 2000 she came to live with us and gave me immense comfort over the past 10 years. She was my snuggle-bug kitty. We have pre-adopted a kitten who is only 4+ weeks old right now and is still well under a pound. She has to get large enough to be spayed and leave her mom before we can bring her home. She is being fostered by a wonderful lady who volunteers at a Kitten Rescue organization. I'll post a link as soon as I upload some pictures of her tiny little face. That's a wonderful way to get a new pet, BTW. There are way too many animals who need their 'forever' home. There are so many rescue organizations in every community in addition to Humane Societies. <this was a commercial message> tongue Anyway, we also want either a second kitten or an adult cat to bring home too. I'll keep you updated when I know anything. The grandkids from 4 to 19 are all excited about getting a kitten. I'll post a link as soon as I upload some pictures of her tiny little face.

Time for this old grandma to end my day. I've reached my fun capacity so I'll say Good Night to everyone. I do pray we are ALL feeling better day by day.

Chutz I will be sending you some prayers for that baby and it's mommy your daughter...
Sorry your pain levels have been high, sure hope they'll get in better control soon...
missed ya...but try to take care of yourself...
When adopting a kitty it's best to get two at around the same age, cause they'll bond better
and be more like brothers, don't adopt an cat that is over 1 yr as it'll not adjust as well to the kitten
and they'll need to be kept in separate rooms to get adjusted too each other if you do that, but if you get two young kittens
then you'll not have to worry about anything except their high energy levels, boy they'll
zip by you so fast, eh...lol....good luck on that, I adopted two of my three kitties one from the shelter
one from HOPE and got chancellor from a friend...

Chutz,

Sending love and prayers to you and your family! Sorry you are hurting so much! I know that you feel like you have to help until it hurts....but try to take care of you also!

My recommendation on the kitties would be 2 little ones! I have always had more then one cat....but the funnest ones were when I kept a brother and sister when they momma only had the 2 kittens. They were so fun to watch together!

Hi Chutz,

It's so good to hear from you and to hear that your daughter is doing well (or as well as can be expected). I completely understand what you mean about how sometimes, we do stuff knowing it's going to hurt like the dickens, but the payoff in the end is worth it. I hope that you're getting a good night's sleep after your busy days....being well rested will certainly help you get through the next day.

Congratulations on getting new kitties!! Your wee one sounds adorable, and I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures you post.

Glad you wrote to let us know how things are going. You are dearly missed, and we're all looking forward to when you get back to regular posting again. Take care of yourself, and lots of hugs and prayers to you and all your dear family.

Oh boy, a baby and cats! You are right up my alley! (no pun intended!) I've been a "cat lady" for many years. When my adult kids were growing up, they had friends who called me cat lady! HA! I had my first cat for 14 years. I was 1 year old when we got him and he was a delight. I've worked at the Humane Society and loved it though my hubby asked me to quit and to donate instead as we were increasing our family with one poor cat after another! And I guess everyone knows by now why I'm Catz4, I've got four of them! 2 I chose and 2 were left in my care while my son was deployed to Afghanistan. By the time he returned, they were happy and he knew I couldn't do without them. In fact while I was reading your post, I was enjoying a big ole' Tom Cat (neutered of course) lovin'!!! He's great, his name is Brando. We've never really had problems bringing in a cat with a kitten and if we did, they got over it pretty quickly. Besides, the kittens are the ones who get adopted which is such a shame and really by the time cats are grown, you can tell their personality and decide what matches yours. In my opinion.
I am so blessed your daughter has come this far! It's a miracle in and of itself!

I've got two brother litter mates and we have to keep them separate. Jerry is constantly attacking poor Tom. Jerry's my naughty boy. He's into everything! Tom is a large, lovable teddy bear. He wants to be rubbed all the time. If you ignore his advances he will shove his face into you and rub you.
I hope you get some rest before that new baby comes.

Hey...thanks for the ideas on the kitties. The gal who has the baby we are adopting also has the mommy and the rest of the litter. She had a 'duh' moment when she knew we were looking for another cat, possibly older. The Mommy cat is also available for adoption!!...lol So we're going to gring the mommy and baby here together, once they both are fixed. There is also a little brother who is a doll. He has very long, fluffy black/sorta hair and is the most laid back fella. She hold them in one hand, on their backs and they flop around like wet dishrags! Because she and her husband do such a wonderful job of fostering them they are absolutely perfect and ready for a family. Momma kitty also nursed an orphaned kitten with this litter. She has strong mothering instincts! It will be a few weeks before they will be ready but it appears that we will be getting the family plan.

We have a poll going in our home. The kittens should be ready in 5-8 weeks. Granddaughter should be born withing 8 weeks but likely sooner. So the bets are going for who arrives here first....the kitties or the granddaughter!...lmbo BTW, her name will be Tirzah Noelle. Tirzah means 'pleasantness' or 'delightful'. She was the original woman's' libber in the Bible. She was the first woman to ask for an inheritance from her father's estate and received it..since there were no male heirs. ;-)

Hi Twiggy!

And thanks for the kind words. So far, so good with baby. The midwife/PA said when she gets to 37 weeks (I believe) she will lift the bed rest restrictions since baby is growing nicely and she has already had steroids for her lung development. And she said that 37 weeks is considered 'term' for most babies so she'll be fine then. We're at 33 weeks so I'm beginning to feel like we're mostly 'safe' whenever this little lassie comes. I keep telling my daughter...girls are much harder to raise and This one is starting before she's even born!...lol But we love her anyway.

Sounds like your daughter is in the home stretch, and I hope it is clear sailing for the rest of the pregnancy. Is this her first? Your first GC?

And it's wonderful to meet you! It's very hard to live with pain 24/7 even with loving family around. But hang on~ once you join the 'Family' we will have our arms around you forever. It's just how we are here.. ;-)

Our stress is changing from extreme worry to excitement! No complaints about that from me. I'm eager to hold this baby girl. We have lots of boys in the family but this little girl will be so much fun since she's close and I'll get to see a lot of her. My sewing machine is already warmed up and humming...lol
