Hi all,
I guess you may remember my having bladder surgery about three months ago....it went perfectly....until it failed two months later and I mean really failed. The Dr/Surgeon has been giving me the run around about the problems and I finally hit my breaking point yesterday and called in with some fairly strong words about the problem.
Well the nurse called last night and told me they were sending me an hour away to see a specialist (Uro-Gyno) who I've never even heard of. I was NOT happy and expressed that without any reservation. Why should I have to go through testing and additional medical expense and travel for what we already know is wrong? The surgery WORKED for two months and then failed.....obviously something came loose and needs to be tacked back in place. It doesn't seem like rocket science to me because my dr/surgeon already goes in and "fixes" other dr's surgeries that have failed for one reason or other. Sooooooo, I politely (but very firmly) explained to the nurse that the referral was simply not acceptable and that I trust the Dr to fix the problem and want it done as soon as possible. She kind of didn't know what to say so I further explained that I would not be incurring any additional medical expenses to fix this problem and that I wanted it fixed by my Dr...period.
Later last night, the Dr. called from his cell phone with his newest proposal.....he'll be having his scheduling nurse call me today to set up my new surgery and he'll be using a slightly stronger type of mesh and a different "tacking" point. He will also make sure the stitches are in place well. I may get stuck with a catheter for a few days after this one, but I'll get the antibiotics I need and hopefully the oral meds for the yeast that won't die!!! I'm allergic to diflucan, but can take the oral nystatin without any problems.
So now I wait for my new surgery and see what happens.....wish me luck!!!!
