I'm writing this not just to get tips from people medically experienced but also to help other people experiencing this. It seems like this is a pretty prevalent problem and the reason it happens is probably why. I'm a normal, healthy 22 year old male. I smoke (not cigarettes) and I don't eat as healthy as I should but I'm 99% positive that isn't the problem. Almost every morning regardless of whether my gf wakes me up or I wake up on my own my stomach is in excruciating pain. I've gone through thinking maybe its an ulcer or maybe ibs but I've noticed that the majority of the time it looks as if my food digests fine (gross I know). I stumbled across a thread in which someone stated that chronic stress can cause an increased production of gastric acid in the morning so I'm pretty sure that's what's happening. Before I ask what others would recommend to help with this ill say what I've found helps. 2 things,................ ............ ...........Maalox instantly helps (I think due to its high ph neutralizing some of the acid) but it really just dulls the pain and usually I can't get back to sleep. My question for the community is this: what would you recommend for relieving this particular type of stress? And in the mean time is there anything I could take to help that would work better or be better for me? I drink energy drinks and I've read that can be bad. I also dislike my job but there's nothing I can do about
that with this economy unfortunately so any insight will help.
Thanks
Dominick
