Any advice for snoring husbands......

       that keep you awake at night.

         We've tried these pills you can buy that say guaranteed for snoring or sleep apnea.

        Yeah right!!!!!!!

             Tonight he will try those strips you put across your nose.

             Last night he slept on the couch in the living room and i could hear him snoring

           and i had the bedroom door closed.

        Might be time for a sleep study honey.

Any other suggestions??

Take Red to a Sleep Doc!!! I did it as you know and now sleep w/ a mask on w/ a hose leading to a machine! Lisa still usually ends up in the other room because instead of snoring, I sound like Darth Vader and that keeps her up! Anyway, that snoring could be a sighn of sleep apnea as you probably already know being the smart Lady you are!!!
So thats my two cents Suz for what it's worth!!

See your local dentist and he can make your hubby an appliance that pulls his jaw forward and then no more
snoring. I was in dentistry for 39 years. Good Luck

If you have no luck with the good suggestions above and he refuses to get checked out, you can resort to old-fashioned remedies. I roll my husband over if he's on his back. His snoring isn't real bad. My SIL uses earplugs, sometimes sends hubby to the guest room.

It is a snoring appliance and it costs approx. $200- hopefully dental insurance would pick the cost up

The nose strips work wonderfully for my dh now, but the first couple he did not put on correctly so still snored.

Before spending any money on  sprays, pills or dental fixes, get a sleep study done on your husband first to see exactly what is wrong with him that would cause him to snore. There are several types of sleep apnea that he could have, and dental appliances and even the regular CPAP and BiPAP machines will not help or treat some of the types of sleep apnea. So a sleep study is a must to find out what is the exact cause of his snoring  first! If he has got sleep apnea,  he might have to go back and have another sleep study done to determine the type of machine he will need to treat it and the settings that he will need to properly treat it! If indeed it is sleep apnea, there is no cure, just treatment to control it!   I know I have complex sleep apnea, it took quite a while to get mine diagnosed and finally get me on the right type of treatment! I use the ResMed VPAP Adapt SV machine, with supplemental Oxygen . my machine is a type of ventilator, that is used to treat central apneas.  Pills, sprays, and dental appliances and also standard CPAP and BiPAP can not treat central apneas. because  unlike the normal sleep apnea when ones throat just colaspes on its self,  central apneas are cause, because for what ever reason the lungs are not being told to breath and function properly.  And that can be caused by a host of different reasons, but the treatment is usually pretty much the same, the need  to use an ASV machine instead of the normal CPAP or BiPAP machine. which can in many cases just make the central apneas worse.

 

  So the first thing to do is get him the proper diagnosis! and that is done through having a sleep study done on him!
