hi ,I am new to this group and glad I found it !I also read the rules ect. Its good to know others who may understand what your experiencing.Ihave thorcic outlet syndrom most painful thing Iever experienced ,somedays I dont get up for long as everytime I move my arm hurts ,or ice cold hand or cramps ,its nasty.Lucky I'm going for surgery soon!Till then Ifeel my life is on hold .Pain meds help manage but also make me tired.I was a very active person now all that changed.Last time Idrove my car ,I had a huge cramp ended up going in wrong lane!So I stay home alot and restrict most activies due to pain.

Hello Sore and I too would like to welcome you to Healing Well's chronic pain forum. I am glad that you found us but sorry that you have to be here. At least by coming here you know that you are not suffering alone, there are a lot of us like you suffering with pain of some sort.

So, you have thoracic outlet syndrome, you have a very painful condition to say the least. A very good friend of mine had thoracic outlet and ended up having surgery. It took some time to find a dr that was willing to do the surgery back then because most drs did not do that kind of surgery. She found the very best one around and did well after her surgery. Her dr specialized in thoracic outlet surgery and he sure knew his business.

I read where you posted in another person's post, you said something about having surgery on your arm. When and what kind of surgery is going to be done on your arm? I am assuming its all related to the thoracic outlet. You also mentioned in that post that you had tried Lyrica in the past but stopped taking it do to the side effects. If you can hang on a couple of weeks they usually will subside. Also, the dr should start you out on a fairly low dose and slowly increase the dosage to get you where you need to be. I do hope you can give it another try.

Hi Sore 42 Long.  I am Lindaloo and I wanted to welcome you to this forum.  I am so glad you found us.

This forum happens to be one of the most wonderful places.  The people here are all very supportive and caring.  I hope you will come back over and over again and let us get to know you through your various posts and get to know some of the folks on here as well.  I can't tell you what a fantastic support they have been to me over the years.

I don't have thoracic outlet syndrome, but being a former nurse, I know about it and know it is very painful at times.  I have fibromyalgia and deal with the pain from that.  Like I said, over the years I have had my share of pain, and these fine people have been so wonderful to me and have helped me through it all.  I only hope you will find the same results for you.

So glad you found us Michele. But so sorry for all the suffering your are going thru. Sounds awful.

I hope you can find that appliance that helps you with your computer to be able to post. When is your

surgery and what will they be doing? Rest as much as you need to, your body needs that. Whatever little

things you can do is a big accomplishment. Remember to take it one day at a time and even one hour at a

time if necessary. I know how tough it is when pain consumes our body.

ps. I detect an accent in your writing? are you french by any chance and where do you live (if you don't mind me asking)

I'm going to send acopy of this to my surgeon ,as my main DR. retirered and it is taking so long to get the resaults of tests back.I'm at the breaking point,not a day goes by without Huge pain ,the pain meds help but do nothing for the the icecoldness in my hand ,simple tasks like washing face ect.have become increasingly more difficult!Ican not cook,clean ect.Iuse ice/hot patches ,magic bag  to ease pain /coldness.I still try to do things just take breaks in between,its very frusterating.Seems I'm not so much living but suffering and hoping surgery is soon .At least 6x aday my hand gets ice cold ,the wrist ,elbow, shoulder have flare ups thru out the day ,also shooting pains at all radom times.I would give up all material items Iown for this pain to be gone.Compared to last yr,the pain has more than doubled ,I realize canada's health care is busy and over burdened ,but I need to know there is some hope,that I will be able to return to having some  sort of less painful more mobilitly  in my life. Thoracic outlet syndrome,seems to be the most painful experience I've add!In canada ,not many DRs specialize in this also very over brudened ,congested ,long waitlist .I have to learn cope with this the best Ican!Seems that pain ,can take over yourlife and pain meds ,maycause drowsiness.I seem to have to rest alot!

Hi everyone ,Its along weekend where Iam.I went out to Prices Right Live game show yesterday ,today I've spent most of day in bed and very sore.Its good to get out of the house,seems being in pain,takes the energy out of me.I do hope every had a bit of fun this weekend!If you get the chance to see Prices Right gameshow ,it was so worth it!I didn't win anything ,someone sitting near me won!The live show is much different than tv show!
