I got an email from Drugs.com that the USDA approved ibuprofen with a med to keep ulcers from forming. I thought great. I kept reading down and it said that it's for people with low to moderate pain. I thought bummer. I know we can still take ibuprofen. I was just thinking maybe it would be more helpful for chronic pain. I don't know. I just wanted to share with you all.

Loretta don't kick dirt on the Ibuprofen, lol. Back when I broke my arm the day it happened and several afterwards I was having severe pain with my arm. I was taking 8mg of Dilaudid that did nothing for the pain, except make me sick at my stomach. The evening that I broke my arm, my neighbor came over to check on me and he is an RN, and I told him how I was shocked the Dilaudid was not helping with the pain. He said well, you are not going to believe this as most people don't realize for inflammation, something like Ibuprofen can help with the pain because of all the inflammation going on. All I can tell you is it worked and iInever bothered with Dilaudid again for my arm. I was one of those skepticals till I found out different.

Wow Straydog. That's amazing. Thanks for sharing your experience. I use Ibuprofen every now and then when I can't get any relief from the patches and oxycodone, that is when i have them. It doesn't touch the pain i have right now though. I'm glad it helped you with your broken arm.

You've got to look t what is causing the pain to decide the best way to medicate it. Anti inflammatory med is awsome, but the problem with using Ibuprofen for cp is that you end up using more and more as you build tolerance and over time it can destroy your liver and cause damage your stomach. Short term like a broken arm, or a twisted ankle, or post-post op it is a great drug.
I use it as my 2nd step drug. Tramadol daily x 4, then 800 ibruprofen for aditional pain with swelling in joints, then topicals, then additional tramadol. Ibuprofen plus topicals amost always brings it to functional levels.
