Thanks again Loretta and Stray. I'm still struggling - my surgery was three weeks ago yesterday and those areas of my spinal incision just won't heal. I'm on antibiotic cover (cream and tablets) to ensure that the wound doesn't become infected, but basically I now have a big deep ulcer there. I think that I have had a reaction to the sutures - he did all dissolving sutures, which I dislike at the skin level for this very reason - and my GP agrees that this seems to be likely. There's no infection there, but it won't close itself and has to be left
open to heal from the bottom to heal on its own. I'm terrified that it's going to become infected because that would probably require removal of my leads until the infection was gone.
My back and leg are still troublesome from the surgery, and they are feeding my CRPS pain. I'm also terribly swollen - almost from the chest down - and though a fair bit is from the CRPS, my cardiologist thinks that my Florinef I take for my orthostatic hypotension is contributing too. He is changing me onto midodrine, but I have to wait 2-3 weeks for him to do it through his research unit at one of the big hospitals, as if I were to get it on a regular prescript
ion it would cost me an extra $200 a month
I'm just so thankful he can do it this way as I wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise. I'm on a disability pension, which means most of my medications are very heavily subsidised, but even so they still cost $135 a month. (They'd be $300 a month without that subsidy

Just feeling very fed up with the word right now...
