Hi all! It sure has been a while. I am doing ok but I want to let you all know what I am going through here in the sunshine state. My meds have changed so many times I cannot even keep track of it. Whether it is an actual change in the medicine or a change in dosage it has gotten out of hand.
Because of all the new laws regarding pain management clinics in FL many legitimate pain patients are suffering. I go to a legitimate PM docs office with several docs. They take insurance and do not dispense meds on site. You get a prescription to take to the pharmacy. I get my meds every month and get them filled. I never go to another doc and get meds, I take my meds as prescribed and do not sell or give them to anyone else.
Now, because of all these drug dealing clinics I and many others like me suffer. I was on methadone for long term control and oxycodone ir 15mg for bt. That was changed because the FL legislator decided to make it hard on docs to prescribe the methadone. This medication worked great for me and I took it as I was supposed to and did not sell it or give to others. I was forced to change. I changed to morphine after many trials with other medications.
This medication is ok but not as good as the methadone. I have many more side effects with the morphine and feel like I am medicated when on it. I did not feel this way with the methadone. After that issue came my short acting med.,,, the oxycodone 15mg ir. Many of you may have heard of all these clinics in FL that only accept cash, have lines around the corner, dispense on site and give way to many pills to people. I saw a special on this and one of the clinic owners was a exfelon, not an MD and his house was full of coke, guns, pills and cash!
Because of this problem in FL I and many others have been forced to change our treatment plan. I have injections about twice a year to help with the pain and it does help but not completely and not for bt pain. I was switched to Lortab after the oxycodone 15 ir. It did not help and I was taking two at a time. My main concern for the bt meds were the tylenol in them. I did not want to take tylenol on a regular basis.
Now my doc put me on percocet. It to has tylenol in it but every doc at the practice I go to is so scared to prescribed Oxy ir that you just have to deal with it or find another doc which in central FL you cannot cause there all scared. Docs here would rather you take a medication that is more harmfull to your liver than a more safer one because of fear.
Before all this started I could go in and let my doc know how I was feeling and if I needed injections or an increase or decrease in meds or if I needed to change meds all together. Forget it now. They will not increase your meds by dosage or amount with fear of the state of FL breathing down their necks. I am really so sick of it all! I am so so so so so tired of the government leading my life.
It is so sad what has happened here but I quess I have to blame it on the drug dealers in these clinics. I also have to blame the state of FL because they should have never let it happen in the first place. They let it get way way way out of hand. I am sorry for my rant but I had to vent. I have vented before on this same issue as some of you may have remembered. I have to keep you all informed. I really believe one day I will only be allowed to take tylenol and advil for pain!
