Hi Everyone

 

My PT has me doing different exercises on my leg and she did tell me that most of the exercises are good for my hip muscles.

 

My knee was very painful during the new workout and once I got home I took a vicadin and went to bed. 

Now it is down to a 5.

 

I want to get my total knee replacement done in March so my pt would be done in the spring.  My knne doc wanted to do it in dec but then my pt would be during the season of snow and ice and I wouldnt be able to get there.  I will talk to my knee doc in september about it.

Hi Betsey,

I haven't had the opportunity to get to know you very welll yet. I think you must have joined around one of my "breaks". I do take them once in a while, but I always come back.

Anyway, I think exercising those hip muscles prior to surgery is a very good idea. I honestly believe that so many of us (including myself) tend to shy away from physical activities simply to keep from hurting when the result would actually do us a lot of good in the future.

I wish you great success with this new surgery!

yesterday I had an appt with pa at pain clinic. I complained about my right hip and entire back hurting. She felt everything and said my back was very tight do to the way I walk. She wants PT to evaluate and work on lower back and right hip.

It was 3:00 am when I woke up....hurting unable to move. I got oxy pill into me and I hobbled over to my recliner to get my laptop. Now I wait for relief.

I walked to much with my cane yesterday fromwhere I had to park the car at my house it was to far away and now Im paying for it. Dang construction workers taking up parking spaces in town around my house to work on handicap ramps and they wouldnt move just one vehicle for me. They know me and they know I walk with great difficultly with a cane.

I reported all of them to their manager.

Hi Betsey,

Sorry to hear about your extra pain and your trouble with the construction workers. That's just so inconsiderate of them :(

All the best with your PT appointment. I hope that it can help your back and hip and get you feeling a bit better.

went to PT today armed with my new rx for pt to lower back and right hip.  They had to check with w/c rep to see if it was covered so i called my lawyer to give her a heads up on that.  So I did my regular exercises on my legs and hips.  She did apply moist warm heat to my right hip.  That felt good.

My borough policeman stopped by my house today to talk to me about my application for a handicap parking spot on the street.  The officer wants me to move the existing car that is in the garage so I can put my grand marquis in the garage.  That isnt happening.  I would have to open the double doors on the garage and get back in the car and pull the car into the space, get out of the car, close the double doors.  To much walking.  I want to park the car on the street and go into the house. I will attend the borough meeting in September and present myself, my leg ,my back and hip.  Let them vote no after seeing my leg.

We are suppose to get alot of rain on saturday...I hurt everywhere.  ouch!!!!

I dont feel well at all today. Symptoms are as follows: Back(entire) hurts all the time. hip has excruiating pain upon standing left leg and left foot hurts. I am a mess today and I dont know why. I didnt miss any doses of meds so that isnt it. Rain is on the way from Irene and it is just to the east of my town in pennsylvania. That is probably the whole reason.

We are going out for dinner tonight to celebrate our friends birthday. He evacuated from NJ to our town in PA because he has a lot of friends here and he is always welcome to stay with us. i hope his house is undamaged when he returns next week.

I placed polish on my nails and put a long skirt on and a cooridinating sweater top on for dinner. To bad it isnt socially acceptable to go to dinner in your pajamas. lol!

woke up at 300 am again. Must be having a fitful sleep ...when I got out of bed my left hand was missing my wedding ring set. Talk about panicking!!!!I tore the bed sheets apart and looked on the carpet. I found the engagement ring on the floor and the wedding ring in the bed. They immediately went on my finger.

Back,hip,leg pain is up to an 8. Back to walking with a walker again.

I need relief.

W/C wont approve PT for my back and hip. They dont think that it is part of my accident.

My back is tight and painful from shoulderblades to lower back. I cant walk correctly so everything hurts.

What can I do to give myself some relief? I see the chief PM doc at clinic on Tuesday and I will bring this up.

Do I need a muscle relaxant? Im going to go to a pharmacy and see what they have for a chair pad massager for the back and a flexible soft cushioned thing that heats up in microwave.

I am desperite, even my neck hurts.

Sorry for all my whining.

Pain clinic chief doc told me to see my family doctor for my back...watched me walk with my cane and looked at my leg...felt the leg...asked me if I had enough meds. that was the end of the appt.

Wednesday I have appt with family doc to look at my back and hip.

Drugstore didnt have anything i could heat up in microwave

I am miserable

Hi Betsy I'm sorry you're having so much pain everywhere. It looks like your doctor would have prescribed more meds or some different meds to help your pain. I hope you feel better soon.

It is 4:00 am wednesday. I am exhausted and in pain. i took my morning pills on time and now I wait.

Appliance repair man is coming to house this morning to put a new heating element in my dryer. It was taking 3 hours to dry a small load. of wash.

My family doc appt is today at 3:00 pm. I hope he can help me today.

I am having trouble putting my thoughts together today.

I will update after my appt today.

Family doc said my right hip hurts upon standing because of my upper back being so tight. He rx a muscle relaxant and a steroid cream to rub all over my knee. i have to wait until thursday for the meds.

I know I will have another sleepless night tonight. I hurt to much.

I am not cooking tonight again. We could go to the american legion for dinner.

Oh Betsey *hugs* I'm so sorry that you're in so much pain. I hope the new meds help your pain.

Oh Betsy,

I am so sorry it took so long for me to respond to your thread. When the title read new PT exercise, I never expected to see your story like this. I am so sorry for your pain.

Ok, now for some suggestions....I have so much back pain that I think I have tried everything. I am allergic to the Volteren Gel (which is probably what you are getting) because it is an NSAID. You'll know very soon if you are allergic. My husband is too, so we wasted some pretty serious co-pays to get that one. BioFreeze wins hands down!!! Ask for some at the PT. They usually have some they will "share" with patients. This may help give some relief.

Also, perhaps some shoe braces (mine help a great deal with foot/leg/knee/hip pain) because my other ailments caused the feet to suffer....thus no foundation and pain all the time. I was back to the walker before the foot braces and now I don't use anything unless I happen to need a cane on occasion. I have to wear a dorsal night splint and then the Richey braces during the day. I also ordered another type of dorsal night splint/airsole day splint combo for both feet from a medical dealer, but the size the recommended is too small. I'm sending thim back today and trying for the bigger size. I'd love to be able to wear "real" shoes on occasion since I've never been a great tennis shoe fan. My Richey braces had to be fitted into special shoes form the podiatrist.

I say all of this not to hyjack your thread, but to give you something else to try for relief. Also, since you couldn't find the microwave thing to warm.....Make one at home. Take a long tube sock (preferably thick mens white) and fill it to whatever level is comfortable to you with plain rice (uncooked of course). Tie a very good knot in the end or sew the end over itself several times (I ususally just do the knot). Pop it in the microwave making sure to test for heat every 30 seconds to minute depending on the microwave strength and the size of the sock or amount of dry rice. THe rice helps hold the heat pretty good and can be used over and over. I think dried beans work well too, but I've always been afraid they would explode if overheated in the microwave.

The biofreeze ...i will request it at pt tomorrow...at least that got approved so I can try to build up my muscles more.

I will make a rice sock tonight and a bean sock. One for knee and one for the back.

Im getting a neck and back massage on friday to try to loosen up the tightness. She is coming to my house.
