Hey all It just seems I can't win for losing. I got my pain med scripts in the mail, so I got Jerome to take them over to the pharmacy. When he went to get them and brought them home, I had to look twice. I had a little note saying that Medicaid wanted a pre-approval for the (get this) oxycodone this time. I'm ready to scream. I got the fentanyl patches just fine. The people that work at Medicaid have gone bonkers. And of course it was too late to call the doctor when I got the note.

I want to switch from oxycodone to something else, if this continues. I'm lucky I had some left over from other times. For those that are familiar with the writing on the script does 1 bid mean 1 twice daily? If so, my doctor didn't correct the 30 to 60. I specifically asked the receptionist to please make sure it gets changed to 60, but it didn't. I guess I'll just be bugging them again around the middle of the month for 30 more.

I've been hearing thunder. We are supposed to get scattered showers tonight and tomorrow I think. Then we're supposed to get them on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I sure hope that changes. My back is hurting so bad. Everything that I've took today hasn't slowed the pain down.

I saw a moist heating pad at Walmart this afternoon that I sure wanted to get. It said that you put it in the microwave. Boy does moist heat sound good right now.

The weatherman said that we would be in the 80s with humidity tomorrow (Thursday, actually today) thru Sunday. I'm very thankful for having our A/C. Soon it will be where we can just open the windows and let fresh air in. Autumn, my favorite time of year.

Well, I better get going now. Peter's going to get me for this long post. I just had to get it out. I guess I need to start a journal. Everyone take care. I hope you're having a low pain night.

Hey Loretta,

I just posted a really good and cheap way to make a microwave heating "sock" on another thread (Betsy Ross'). Perhaps it will help you if you have time to make one. I'm sure Jerome has an old sock around without a match, so it would be pretty easy to try. Just tie a knot an if it doesn't work then dump out the rice and use it from there. You can also use dry, uncooked rice if you have dropped a cell phone or bluetooth in water. Just take out the battery and sit them in a bowl of dry rice. Wait several days and the rice will absorb all of the water from the items. Try them after a week and perhaps a new one won't be necessary :)

Sorry to hear about the medication crap. Insurance and stuff is so frustrating when you're dealing with illnesses. It is not something you need to deal with on top of your pain and problems. It really annoys me sometimes. :P

The tip about a homemade heating pad is a good idea. Even if it is until you get a new one. lol

I get some relief with dry heat, actually, but moist heat really does help me more personally. Especially for my more muscular pain.

Thank you RetiredMom and Mister. It's strange that you would mention the rice RetiredMom. I told the lady that comes and cleans our apartment every two weeks Tuesday that Jerome had went swimming with our phone that the government gave us in his pocket and ruined it. She told me to put it in a ziploc bag of dry rice. So I did to see if it will work.

I had forgotten about putting rice in a tube sock to make the microwave sock. The problem is we don't have any tube socks. Will it work with a smaller sock when it's my middle back I'll be using it on?

I did call the doctors office and told the receptionist that I needed pre-approval for the oxycodone, and about an hour or so later, the pharmacist called and said my meds were ready. So, it wasn't too bad, but still aggravating.

You two take care. I hope you're both having a low pain evening.
