Talk-About ~ Friday 9 September

Time for a new Talk-about topic. I've been doing a lot of outdoor work around out place the entire summer. Mostly I've been working on finishing the outside of a small addition. This morning I got out before the heat arrived and caulked the siding and trim boards and got it ready for a coat of paint. I've also spent time just enjoying the outdoors puttering in my small vegetable garden.

Let's imagine the weather is to your liking for the next few days...however you like it... what do you love to do outside? Maybe you enjoy a well deserved nap in a hammock (ahhhhhh), or you prefer some sport, go for a walk or do some chores you've wanted to get to. Water involved? What is your idea of a lovely day outside?

  For me there is nothing better than sitting at the lake side where we love to camp and read a book or do some crocheting.

A nice sunny day, the water is calm and I float across the water in my kayak. Oh so so peaceful!!!

 

On a good weather day, I will walk to bus stop, catch a series of buses, get to a mall, mostly window shopping, unless its payday, which only comes once a month so.

I am not a big outdoors person, if I camp, its at a Comfort Inn, or someother chain of Hotel.  Never ever liked camping, even long before I became disabled, didnt like it as a kid, and dont like it now.  Aside from the fact that if I had to sleep on the ground, in a sleeping bag, just have a backhow there the next morning to get me up.

But, to each there own, I do love to read, has always been a favorite pastime for me.  I love the laptop, now that I know a little how to use it.  I love history, the real history, not what I was told in elementary school.

So, thats it for me.

I went to the camper this weekend (Friday) to enjoy the weather and slight cool front, but I missed it and spent the whole time in doors. I tried to read, but my eyes kept shutting every time I read a line, so I napped a great deal and then slept a lot! I went out on Saturday and bought the most beautiful tomatoes and peaches from this roadside stand. I swear they are the best I've had all season....strange since the season has passed, but I'm excited none the less. I even found beautiful yellow squash and plums on the peak of ripeness.... yumm.

If I had my perfect weather, it would be about 66F and there would be a crispness in the air. Low humidity would be a must! That's the time I like to sit on the back porch and look down to the pond (with my husband grilling something yummy) and a fresh vanilla poundcake cooking in the oven. The house smells so good with the cake baking and then there is nothing better than fresh (slightly warm) poundcake after a meal of grilled mega steaks...seasoned to perfection, of course.

I hope today to read a little more of my book or to type a little more on HW....that is if my eyes will stop slamming shut as soon as I put my glasses on...I've dropped my computer twice in the last week!

     I think the perfect day for me, would be to find a lone Weeping Willow with a full canopy draping completely to the ground, high upon a hill. Temp at a perfect 77 degrease, with scattered cumulus clouds. Rolling hills with a patchwork of wheat fields, green pastures, and deep blue ponds.

      Added to the privacy inside the willow canopy would be a king size piece of Tempur-Pedic foam covered with a couple of quilts and throw in four or five pillows. Not an insect one!...no critters....no pest of any kind! Totally bug free! Oh...well....we may throw in a few butterflies here and there.  

     Of course we have to bring along the Biggreenegg smoker, loaded up with "Rack of Lamb" Yummy! Corn on the cob and a baked potato, with a fresh loaf of "Rosemary" bread sounds good. And for desert, a picnic basket with a homemade cherry pie!...make that two pies...one has to be a "Gooseberry" (my personal favorite)

      It's late afternoon, and I just got the boombox set up with music for the mood. One last touch for my guest....fresh hand picked wild flowers......I must hurry my guest is due any minute!

       Off in the distance I see a trail of dust making it's way up the old country road...and in the lead is a very familuar 1962 "Apache " Chevy Pickup. My baby is here! As that farm girl steps out of the truck I am speechless, and my tear filled heart is overjoyed and greatful we are married. She is unique and one of a kind woman that I have never met before in all my life. She is half tomboy,....the other,.... as graceful and beautiful as "Princess Diana"        

       As if she read my mind.....she hauled up a load of firewood  for a campfire, and while the wind was still glently blowing we flew a kite I had brought.

      Dinner was great!...and we settled in for a romantic evening, and by the moonlight, we visited and shared the secrets and affections of our hearts for one another. We decided to stay the night under the canopy of the willow tree, and greeted the early morning sun once again...ever so greatful for yesterdays memories.
