Looks like you've got lots of good advice. I agree with seeing the dermatologist about
the skin, a pain management doctor, and getting a second opinion from a vein specialist, also keeping a good log of pain and what you're trying for it, etc.
I'd only add that in my case, although I do have bad valves in my leg veins, I found by chance that much of my pain was from my spine. I went to a podiatrist who correctly diagnosed that the pain in my legs, ankles, heels was from nerve impingement in my lower back and sent me to a pain specialist. While this may not have anything to do with you, it might be worthwhile discussing when you see the pain management doc. He was the one who ordered the MRI and gave me the injection that stopped the pain. Even if pain is from veins, a pain doc may be able to help with stopping nerve pain, not just prescribing narcotics.
